Cashel Godfrey is big, tattooed, and angry, so people typically keep their distance. Fresh out of the police academy no one is looking to partner with the six foot four beast. When Cashel scanned the orientation room, he wasn’t expecting sexy hazel eyes to be locked onto him. Eyes of the gorgeous Leonidis Day.

Leonidis is charming, witty, hilariously sarcastic, and the only one that can make Cashel smile. He’s an out and badass detective, but when Cashel saves his life in a raid that turns deadly, he sees something in the big man that no one else does…something special.

Warning: Two sexy narcotics detectives. One with a serious hot spot for big gun-toting men, the other that yields a cannon; so be ready for the obscene sexual bang when these two come together.

Review

So you can tell from the description that we’ve got two cops, super alpha, super sexy who are already friends. What Leonidis (Day) doesn’t know is that Cashel (God) has some secrets… including his sexuality.

Day is out an proud but God seems to be all straight.

There is lots and lots of sexual tension between these boys and a bit of pain. Cash’s family thinks he killed his father and now won’t speak to him.

And of course there are bad guys doing some bad things that put everyone at risk. Pushing God and Day into each other’s arms.

So – yeah – there are some other issues. Homophobic jerks on the squad and a young guy who steals to help his mama and a weird sexual tension between the aforementioned homophobe and… Some of this made the story a little wonky but if you set that aside and focus on the relationship (especially the sex) it’s a pretty sappy, sweet and HOT story.

I definitely think the author got better as the series progressed in terms of writing and plotting, but I still love this story and re-read it often. I just loved how crazy for each other these two guys get and how willing they are to be vulnerable to each other.

I was able to easily overlook some of the stuff that didn’t exactly make sense or seem at all close to reality for the sake of the “lurve” these guys shared.

Another warning – there is a scene at the end – kind of random- where they all “share partners”… some people are really put off by this. It was pretty hot, if you ask me, and definitely didn’t make me feel like “cheating” since all of them were together – but be warned – it’s in there!

So I highly recommend this book to lovers of two alpha males going at it, sometimes silly dialog, over the top sex scenes and really sappy love stories.

Audio

Aiden Snow is new to me but he is definitely someone I’ll be looking for in the future!  He does a terrific job and really knows how to represent these characters whom I’ve had in my head for what feels like years!  I’ve read and re-read this book several times, so the guys sort of have their own place in my head and an imagined sound as well. I think Aiden really captured their personalities and helped to cement them more permanently in my head and heart.

Highly Recommended!

— ONE WRONG TURN. ONE RIGHT MAN. —

Colin. Rule-follower. Future doctor. Witness to murder. Captive.
Taron. Survivalist. Mute. Murderer. Captor.

Like every other weekend, Colin is on his way home from university, but he’s taunted by the notion that he never takes risks in life and always follows the beaten path. On impulse, he decides to take a different route. Just this one time. What he doesn’t realize is that it’s the last time he has a choice.
He ends up taking a detour into the darkest pit of horror, abducted by a silent, imposing man with a blood-stained axe. But what seems like his worst nightmare might just prove to be a path to the kind of freedom Colin never knew existed.

Taron has lived alone for years. His land, his rules. He’d given up on company long ago. After all, attachment is a liability. He deals with his problems on his own, but the night he needs to dispose of an enemy, he ends up with a witness to his crime.

The last thing Taron needs is a nuisance of a captive. Colin doesn’t deserve death for setting foot on Taron’s land, but keeping him isn’t optimal either. It’s only when he finds out the city boy is gay that an altogether different option arises. One that isn’t right, yet tempts him every time Colin’s pretty eyes glare at him from the cage.

*
“When Taron looped the heavy metal collar around the slender neck and closed the padlock, his body throbbed with the excitement of knowing he owned this boy.
Was it wrong? Yes, yes it was.
Was it so, so good? Definitely.”

Review

This is an incredibly intense, dark romance, and I absolutely loved it. The darkness doesn’t come solely from the violence in the story, nor Colin’s abduction, but is in large part also a psychological and emotional darkness and that’s what makes this story so gripping. I love that the authors constantly kept the reader on their toes! The story is unnerving and unpredictable and just such a compelling read.

Taron has a really skewed view of reality and is trapped in a solitude of his own making. He’s completely unprepared for Colin and how the other man will change his life. The bond that slowly, ever so slowly, develops between Colin and Taron is profound and deeply emotional, if rooted in a rather difficult, highly unusual and quite frightening situation.

This is definitely something else. Very different from anything I’ve read before. I loved the original ending and where the MC’s ended up. The way to their HEA is fraught with violence, captivity and manipulation, but it also has lots of cats, quiet camaraderie and a scorching hot physical connection.

Definitely recommend!

Finn:
The Cyclones are more than just a team to me—they’re my family. As captain, I give my all to make sure they’re taken care of. Sure, it doesn’t leave a lot of time for me, but I’ve always been able to ignore my own needs. Until Ryker.

I know he’s all talk. But it’s such dirty, distracting talk that it costs me and my team qualifying points. I shouldn’t let him get to me, but I want him in the worst way, and a hookup at a gaming convention seems as good a place as any to get over him.

But when he earns a spot with the Cyclones, all my hangups over this guy are brought to the forefront, 24/7. I expected to give in to my attraction again, but I never thought he’d become an integral part of my team… and my life.

Ryker:
Beating the Cyclones isn’t just about bragging rights for me. It’s about proving to my dad—and myself—that I’m worth more than the internship he’s oh-so-generously offered me.

There’s only one problem: I’ve been low-key obsessed with their captain, Finn, for the better part of a year. He’s everything I want, and everything I want to be—driven, talented, passionate. He also hates my guts, which honestly only makes me want him more.

But it only takes one insanely hot encounter to tell me I won’t be getting him out of my system anytime soon. And when I finally have the opportunity to join the Cyclones and pursue my dream, the one thing I want most of all is him.

Rivals is the first book in a brand new series! While all these books feature gaming and geekery, you don’t have to be a self-professed gamer to enjoy them. If you like the idea of hot, adorkable nerds falling in love, you’re in the right place.

Review

Funnily enough… there was way too much sex in this IMHO. I had to bump this down a notch for that alone.  I wanted more relationship and less humping.  They thought about having sex.  Had sex.  Then thought about how they had sex.  It was too much.

I was very captivated by the enemies to lovers, but sometimes the ages of the MCs felt off – at times too young and others too mature. Inconsistent definitely.  But – maybe – some of that was them growing… hard to tell.

However, the gaming stuff sounded legit and fascinating and I’m stoked for a new series!  Sometimes I was overwhelmed by all the gaming jargon, but it was mostly done in a way that non gamers cold follow.
