Justice Volkov is the youngest Alpha Zenith to ever lead the wolf shifters. Following in his father’s large paw prints was a responsibility he met head on. Now at age thirty-three, he is alpha of the alphas. As a direct descendant of the original Siberian pack, his wolf is bigger and stronger than Justice, himself is sometimes able to control.

His wolf howled long and hard but Justice kept it inside. It felt like a bass drum beating against his rib cage. The harsh breaths, angry snarls and the determined pacing inside him was overtaking him.

Justice takes his role of leadership and his legacy very seriously. He has little time for romance, not to mention a true mate. His packs are his priority. With a human government trying to regulate them, an uprising of rogue shifters, and a violent team of scientists trying to experiment on them, Justice has his hands way too full.

Chadwick ‘Wick’ Bentley is not enthusiastic when the captain of his escort tells him he has to leave his comfortable London home and go back to the States. As the Vampire King, he has no choice but to get his species back in line before they cause anymore chaos. At over one-hundred years old, Wick is no one to trifle with, but his smooth, charismatic manner makes him quite unique, despite the negative reputation vampires have. Wick has had nothing but time up to this point. He doesn’t feel the need to make issues pressing. Nothing is urgent in his life. Until he meets Justice. His beloved.

“Natural enemies can’t be mates.” Or so Justice thought. He knows his skepticism and rejection is hurting his mate, so while he fights their connection, Wick gets help from a source very close to Justice to help him win his beloved’s heart. Wick is a force all on his own, but when he’s blessed with a special gift from the Mother herself, not even Justice’s powerful wolf can prevent the prophesy from being fulfilled.

This story DOES NOT contain/mention MPREG.
No multiple pairings. No cliffhangers. It ends with a very HFN.

Review

I LOVED this! I am so psyched to see AE Via come to audio! I really hope she finds the ability to do more of her books in audio. This ROCKED. Nathaniel Black OWNED this! He is able to do ALL the accents as well as carry the drama in between the dialog with panache.  The story itself is wonderful, too.

We have two enemies, both alphas in their own worlds, who have no expectation of mating and yet find themselves not only drawn to one another but absolutely NEEDING the other. It was GLORIOUS! I love that uncontrollable passion and the feelings that come with it. Via is also gifted at giving us a good amount of action and adventure but not enough to detract from the base of the story which is our MCs falling in love.

There’s a good bit of humor, lots of hot mate sex, and LOADS of shifting and biting!

Absolute perfection, read by a true performer!

I cannot rate this highly enough!

Blurb

Once in a blue moon, opposites find they’re a perfect match.

Nick Perry is tired of helping people with their marriages, so when a spot opens up to work with teens at Camp H.O.W.L., he jumps at it. He doesn’t expect to fall in lust with the dreamy new camp doctor, Drew Welch. But Drew is human, and Nick has seen secrets ruin too many relationships to think that a human/werewolf romance can go anywhere.

Happy-go-lucky Drew may not sprout claws, but he’s been part of the Were community all his life. He has no trouble fitting in at the camp—except for Nick’s stubborn refusal to acknowledge the growing attraction between them and his ridiculous stance on dating humans. Fate intervenes when one of his private practice patients threatens Drew’s life. Will the close call help Nick to see a connection like theirs isn’t something to let go of

Review
This story can be read on it’s own. It is set in the same place as book 1, Camp H.O.W.L, The secondary characters appear in both books with a very brief appearance from Tate and Adrian (mc’s in book 1). I liked this story better than the first book. Both characters feel an irresistible pull towards each other, it’s meant to be. A sort of fated mates but with Drew being human. Nick is a bit of an idiot though. Absolutely convinced here no point in trying for a relationship because Drew is human and it’ll never last. It’s a good twist showing a shifter who is condescending towards humans and having to eat his words as Drew proves he is just as good in many ways. I do wish Nick apologised properly to Drew for his attitude. The close call brought him to his senses but he was still being an idiot and making assumptions. Drew is a sweetheart, so full of compassion. He knows his limitations within the were community and works within them to fit in. He had never had a problem before until Nick, who was happy for a one night stand cut wary of anything more when they met again. I’m starting to love the Camp H.O.W.L crew and hope there is another one in this series within a series.

Ridley Scott

I’m a genuinely happy person, regardless of the fact that both of my parents are dead, I’m a college dropout, I work at a diner as a cook in Purdy, Nebraska and I’m a tall, lanky virgin gay man with more freckles than not, bright red hair, and a creepy obsession with a gorgeous god of a man who always catches me stealing glances of him and doing awkward things, such as nearly killing myself with a mop bucket or frying pan. When my car breaks down not far rom said gorgeous, god’s house, I learn that Flynn is my best friend’s alpha and there is more to my obsession than my ridiculous habit of accidental suicide attempts. We’re connected.

Flynn Becker

I’ve been watching my mate for months and waiting for the perfect time to finally claim him. When he comes sputtering to a stop not far from the leap house where I’m the alpha of a large leap of leopards, I’m both excited to finally have him close and worried about how to explain our world. When I find out he already knows about shifters and his best friend is a member of my leap, I feel like this mating just got easier. But fighting both, members of my own kind, and my precious mate’s insecurities, might be too much for even a chosen bond. I have to find a way to protect my mate from a crazed she-leopard and prove to him that he could never be, JUST Ridley.

Review

If you’re in the mood for some really cute, sexy and fun shifter/mate/madness – this is for you! I’d never read this author before but they are on my radar now. I really enjoyed this and the book that follows and am looking forward to more.

There are some flaws – the editing isn’t great, the plot is thin, and the character development of secondary characters isn’t awesome, but… the romance is sweet and I found this to be fun and it made me laugh! Just what I wanted!

He never expected his mate to be fae. Now he has to choose between his heart and his pack.

When mixed-blood werewolf Mahon comes across powerful fae magic in a nightclub, dealing with the threat is a chance to prove to his new pack where his loyalties lie. But the threat turns out to be a gorgeous, wide-eyed college student who’s never heard of the supernatural world. After they’re attacked by bloodsucking vampire bats, he takes Oscar and his small, angry cat home for their own protection. He’ll definitely tell his pack about Oscar…later.

Abandoned as an infant, Oscar’s always wondered where he came from—he just never expected the answer to include pointy ears, magical powers, and evil forces trying to kill him. Oscar knows he shouldn’t rely on Mahon for help, but it’s hard to resist when a six-foot-six werewolf literally sweeps you off your feet. The key to Oscar’s past might lie with the local fae court—where werewolves aren’t welcome.

Oscar and Mahon are mates—but how can they be together when it might cost them both everything?

The Werewolf’s Fae Mate is an m/m paranormal werewolf/fae romance with a HEA and no cliffhangers.

Review

I am LOVING this author! I have been devouring the books on her back list and enjoying the hell out of ‘em!

In this case we get two mates from different species and all the headaches that entails. Coupled with that we get some political family drama and some sweet lovin’.

In addition to the whole “Mate/Mine” thing we get one of my favorite all time tropes – what I have re-dubbed the “harry potter” trope. That is when a mere mortal finds out they are really MAGIC! I love that and Oscar gets the hard crash landing in the land of paranormal as well as finding out his own back story.

I’m hoping the author does more in this world – hopefully a bit longer – and that we get to see more of this couple.

Review

If you are a fan of fated mates, dragons, and paranormal love – you won’t want to miss this! I was so psyched to find this author I immediately went out and bought her other titles!

This is really a book one and epilogue billed as 2 books, but that’s ok – they’re wonderful together and I was glad to see them bundled this way.

There is a bit of personal growth, some hot smexy times, some very romantic feelz and the potential for this series to grow.

I hope it does!

Highly recommended!

Audiobook Month: Fangs and Catnip by Julia Talbot Narrated by Dorian Bane

Blurb: A Dead and Breakfast Novel
A romance worth fighting for—tooth and claw.

Solitary vampire Fallon Underwood gets all the social interaction he needs being the silent partner at the Dead and Breakfast B and B high in the Colorado mountains. Change is hard for Fallon, so when his business partner, Tanner, suggests hiring a new manager for the inn, he’s adamant that they don’t need help, especially not in the form of bouncy werecat Carter Hughes.

Carter is a happy-go-lucky kitty, and he loves the hospitality industry, so the D and B ought to be a great place for him. He falls for Fallon as soon as he picks up one of Fallon’s novels, and begins to woo the vamp with gifts. When Fallon finally succumbs to Carter’s feline charms, the results are unexpected, to say the least. Their mating will have irreversible consequences—for their bodies and their hearts.

Review:
(Book reviewed here previously by Dee)
This is a different take on supernatural interspecies mating.
I liked the quirky characters at the B&B – from Fallon, the moody writer (vampire); Tanner co-owner (Bear) and Glenda (Gorgon). Tanner needs a day manager to help take on some of the day to day managerial duties, (since Fallon, co-owner has little interest in helping). Carter, a werecat, applies and gets the job. Carter is friendly, chatty, with a sunny disposition – all the things Fallon is not. But Carter ‘weres’ Fallon down (I couldn’t resist☺) and they fall in love.
It was interesting the way Fallon and Carter’s relationship progressed; especially the way they took on each other’s traits – Carter developing photosensitivity, while Fallon had a vague craving for meat. However, the two men have to find a way to adjust to their mating changes or they will slowly die. With the help of a B&B staff, a few guests and a local doctor, the two men figure out a way to adjust to each other and live happily together.
There is a bit of heartache when Fallon thinks he’s helping by pushing Carter away. As a result, Carter becomes feral and Fallon has to find a way to bring him back.
I enjoyed the story, especially the twist on the fated mates trope.
I hope there will be stories for some of the other characters, like Tanner or Dan (wolf, guest).

Audio

Dorian Bane does a terrific job of giving every “unique” character in this funny story an equally “unique” voice. He’s definitely got the “tongue in cheek” vibe down and he mirrors the light hearted nature of the story perfectly.

He excels at his dialog and is solid on the non-dialog parts. This is definitely the way to appreciate this story and is a great way to spend a weekend!

Recent Release: Fagin’s Folly (Alpha and Omega #6) by Lisa Oliver

Good Reads Link
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/39787999-fagin-s-folly?from_search=true

Blurb

Can be Read as Standalone.

Fagin Mars, alpha-heir of his father’s pack, had two possible life paths. On the one hand, he could do what his father demanded; mate with a female wolf shifter and take over the pack or…something else entirely. Fagin was opting for option two. After a terse exchange with his father, Fagin gets permission to go on a road trip for thirty days. He wants to find his true mate. It shouldn’t be that hard, should it?

Cooper Samuels stayed well away from wolf packs. As an omega, he knew the terrors he’d have to face if he ever got caught in pack territory. Which is why he worked for a human accounting services firm and never told anyone about the furry side of his nature. That was, until he went to meet a prospective new client as a biker bar called Fagin’s Folly. He should’ve known his life was going to change the moment someone barrelled into him and knocked him over.

But just because the Fates stepped in and put these two men on the same path, didn’t mean the journey was going to be easy. Things aren’t all as they seem in Fagin’s home pack and things turn nasty after a night on the town. Kidnappings, challenges and the archaic notions many shifters believed about omega wolves was enough for Fagin to consider handcuffs and not the kinky kind. Will Fagin have to give up his mate so soon after finding him, just to ensure his mate’s safety?

Like all of the books in the Alpha and Omega series, this can be read as a standalone and has no connections to the others in this series. Contains some violence, an Omega who quickly finds his backbone and an Alpha wolf who realizes love is worth any sacrifice. M/M, HEA, No cliffhangers.

Review

This was a fun addition to the Alpha Omega series. It’s not nearly as good as the Cloverleah series in my humble opinion, but it’s fun and reliably predictable.

I enjoy the hurt/comfort nature of these stories and love the retribution our poor beleaguered souls get in the end.

The smexy times are pretty hot and the feelz pretty solid. I didn’t always care for Fagin but I think – in the end – he really redeemed himself.

Great for fans of the author, shifter/omega stories and hurt/comfort.

Time to Go Dark: Tate’s Torment (Avanti Chronicles Book 2) by Hannah Walker

Good Reads Link

Blurb

When a rare day out goes disastrously wrong, the men have to fight for the survival of one of their own. Their actions spark an appearance by the Conclave, leaving the Avanti’s future in the hands of those who choose to destroy them.
Tate will give up everything to save his friends, even if it means losing Dariux and a love he never imagined he would find.
With half the conclave determined to punish the Offworlders, they have to rely on new found friendships. The question is, will it be enough to overcome the trouble that seems determined to take them down?

May your journey be swift and uneventful, may you all get one step closer to your truemates and may good triumph over evil. Remember love conquers all.

Review

This is the second book in the series and it focuses on Tate, the jokester of the group. But he is also the most deadly in his fighting skills. The scene where he is eventually captured shows off his fighting skills, and leaves the reader in awe of his skills

The jokester side of Tate plays out whenever there isn’t a life or death scene playing out. Mostly directed towards Dariux. They are True Mates, which is similar to Fated Mates. But Tate’s jokester side hides a man who is fighting the demons of his past, a man who doesn’t believe he is worthy of love. When they finally get together the words almost steam off the page.

There are subplots weaved throughput this story, with all 6 of the Avanti settling into living on the planet they crashed on. Local politics, adjusting to living with a low tech environment and animals that have as much personality as the humans. This series is an ongoing story overall and each book focusing on a member of the Avanti finding their True mate

Can Vincentius figure out how to win the favor of his captive, or will he lose the best thing to happen to him in over three hundred years?

This falls back to the Charlie Richards we all know and love! It follows that lovely fated mate trope with a bit of quirky humor and some mellow smexy times.

We get to see a newly developing branch of the shifter world – the flock of odd birds who briefly resided with Declan’s wolves, is now branching out! Some of the council men we’ve met before return and we get a new series as a result!

This is the kind of Charlie story I love and I know fans of hers will as well.
