Two men haunted by the same ghost…

Falling for “the other man” in my marriage was never part of the plan. Then again, according to Nicolae Ursache, I am the other man, and human wedding vows don’t apply. Not to werewolves.

Nicolae is a smug, arrogant alpha male stereotype–and I do mean alpha in the literal sense–but when the same people who killed my wife kidnap my teenage daughter, he’s my only chance at getting her back. The fact that Nicolae was my wife’s rightful mate means that we share a mutual interest in bringing Ellie home, but I never could’ve imagined how he planned to do it.

I will do anything to protect my daughter. Even if it means becoming the plaything, or worse, of the man I loathe most.

This dark shifter romance contains material suitable for adult audiences only. It is a standalone with full resolution.
**NOTE: There is no mpreg in this universe. 18+ readers only.**

Review
A fantastic shifter book, adding a human to the shifter world when Jack’s daughter is taken and his dead wife’s mate appears offering to help get her back.
The shifter aspect is slowly introduced to Jack with both him and Nicholae despising each other straight away because of their shared history with Francesca (wife and mother). It has darker parts in this story compared to other contemporaries, their treatment of humans for example.
The two MC’s are strong and well developed in their own ways, though we only read from Jack’s POV. There are several secondary characters that come in and provide support and an outlet for Jack through his adaption to their world, and I like how they give everyone him relief from his struggle with learning a new world and working his way through a tumultuous relationship with Nicholae. Their relationship builds naturally which was great to read, not just a sudden adoration for the one offering to save his child.
Ellie is a great character, working and learning through her new found heritage, but also like a regular teenager, butting heads with her dad. Nicholae is a complicated man and it takes a while to learn what side he actually comes down on. He’s well written and he comes into his role as mate well with Jack. Jack, as well as learning about this whole new world, knows he’s ill from his years working in the coal mine so has that to contend with as well. Considering it all, he deals well and again is well written, giving his thoughts and feeling towards people and events clearly. Andrei is adorable and would love to see him in another story, maybe his own.
Definitely recommend this book for shifter fans and those liking a darker aspect to their books.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review

Some bad girls need a firm hand to keep them in line.
I’m bad enough to need two.

Two older men who can teach me a lesson when I misbehave.
Two hot bodies to keep me warm in bed at night.
Two best friends who can learn to share a filthy-mouthed little brat like me.

After all… dirty girls need very dirty daddies.

***

Carrie Wells is nothing but trouble.

She’s wild and difficult. Not worth anyone’s time.

Carrie Wells is a beautiful little brat. She’s also a vulnerable young adult on my case list.

She’s half my age and totally off limits. I’m breaking every rule in the book by giving her somewhere to stay when she’s out on the streets with nowhere to go. And I’m breaking every rule of friendship by holing her up in my best friend Jack’s house while he’s away on business.

I thought life was difficult enough when I fell for the girl, but it gets a whole lot harder when Jack comes home early and finds a beautiful stranger causing chaos in his house.

And a whole lot harder still when he falls for her too.

He’s the one guy on this planet I’d share my last supper with. I’d share it gladly.

I’m just not so sure how I feel about sharing Carrie Wells

Review
I feel like I should post a disclaimer first, I can’t remember the last time I read or listened to an m/f book let alone mfm. I purchased this one because Joel Leslie narrated part of it. I found myself getting irritated with Carrie Wells the brat. It was such a poor me, no one understands me, so I’m going to push everyone as far as I can attitude. I got the measure of her character fairly quickly so it felt like it went on too long. Having said that it’s a testament to Jade West’s writing and Stacy Holmes performance that it prompted such a reaction. The first two thirds of the story was building up to the dirty Daddies part. The main focus is Carrie who is in foster care, fighting every one, and her case worker Michael. He desperately wants to help Carrie, if she would let him. Michael’s attitude worries his best friend Jack, who can’t understand why Carrie has gotten under Michael’s skin. Not to give too much away we come to the last third of the book. The point I was checking my headphones worked properly and no one else on the train could hear! Steamy is definitely the word. This was a well crafted part of the story. I admire the stamina of two 40+ year olds with a very horny 18 year old. As a reader of mm I appreciated the way the Jade West portrayed two heterosexual men learning to share Carrie. There was an understandable level of hesitation on Michael’s part being close sexually to Jack whilst Jack was more adventurous.
The story switches POV between Carrie, Michael and Jack with the three narrators each taking their characters. In this format they each voice the other character’s as they are conveying what happens and what was said that them. It was a little of putting at first but I soon settled into it. Stacy Holmes gives a very good impression of a rebellious teenager crying out for love. Smutty McDiamid’s portrays Michael very well. He conveys the turmoil he is in not being attracted to one of his clients but going against everything he believes is right. Joel Leslie is his usual excellent self bringing Jack, the linchpin of the three, into the strong character he is. He’s the one who gets through to Carrie.
As I said earlier, there is a lot of steam towards the end of the book, there is just a lot of angst and teenage drama to go through first.

K.C. Wells
A friends-to-lovers novella that came from Out of the Shadows, because Nate and Dylan needed a story….

This was adorable! I don’t remember these guys at all from Out of the Shadows – but that’s ok.

I loved how cute they were together and the “discovery” smexy times were hot, hot, hot!

There is pretty much no angst and just a sweet and sexy deepening of feelings.

Highly Recommended!

Daniel Henning is new to me and he did not impress me this time around. While he did a nice job with pronunciation and was easy to understand and I felt like his voice quality/intonation was nice – his voices felt like caricatures and didn’t feel authentic. He was a bit OTT at times and that is a drag.

I did not feel drawn into the story and I was a bit disappointed. I wouldn’t avoid him – he is new – but this wasn’t a great start.

A love as easy as breathing.

Life started out rocky for Devin Rice, but it’s turned out pretty well. He has adoptive parents and a brother who love him, and he works as a coder for his dad’s video game company. Romance is scarce, but a chance encounter leads to more than he ever expected.

While dropping off an assignment for his sick brother, Dev meets his mentor. Art history professor Seth Kent is brilliant and gorgeous, just what Dev has been looking for. Except that he’s in a long-term committed relationship.

Seth’s partner, Leaf, is older and sees the world differently due to his unusual upbringing. To him, the clear attraction between Seth and Dev isn’t a problem, it’s an unexpected gift. After all, Leaf is often on the road, going wherever rescue dogs need rehabilitation.

When Leaf meets Dev, all the missing pieces fall into place, and three men from different worlds and at different points in life fill each other’s empty spaces. For them, building a future together is the most natural thing in the world. But their unconventional love causes waves in their careers and family dynamics, and each man has his own doubts and fears to overcome

Review
This is one of the best MMM books I have read. I absolutely loved the story of how these three complex men came together. Each met a particular need of the others, even finding new aspects that they didn’t realise were missing until now. There is also an age difference between the characters which is a very important aspect. This was one story I just didn’t want to end, I wanted to stay in their world. There is no angst even though each of them are dealing with very heavy issues from their past. These also play a part in how their relationship unfolds. The key here is communication, being very open with what they are feeling and any other problems. In this way they build a strength between them enabling them to deal with issues and support each other. I might be making this sound like a utopia but I thoroughly enjoyed reading about a three way relationship that clicked and wasn’t just about sex, although that is there as well.
This is a story I will definitely be reading again (and listen to if it comes out on audiobook)

Time to Laugh: The One that Got Away by Rhianne Aile and Madeline Urban

Blurb: When David Carmichael suffers a migraine and then a broken shoulder, Trace Jackson, his best friend, simply moves in to take care of him. Their easy camaraderie continues with no problems until David discovers an undercurrent of heat and tension flowing between them. Despite knowing his best friend is straight, David is slowly falling in love. What he doesn’t know is that Trace is struggling with a similar discovery.
Trace has never desired another man before. He’s a ladies’ man with quite the reputation, considered a top prize around town. But his close, treasured friendship with David makes the emotion and arousal growing between them irresistible. Soothing David’s doubts, Trace makes it clear that he wants to know if they can make it work. Because Trace is sure he wouldn’t love another man — that’s not the issue. He just loves David.

Review: This is one of my favourite re-reads- there is no angst, no misunderstandings, just a humourous, sweet romance.
Trace and David have been friends for a while. David injures himself (during a migraine episode) and Trace stays to look after him. David is gay and during his recuperation time, he is slowly falling for his straight friend. Trace, for his part, is beginning to see David in another (more sexually attractive) light. The men slowly realise that they could be more than friends and go for it. There are some funny scenes, especially with Mabel, Trace’s cat and the poker game ☺
This is not a deep book, just entertaining, so just enjoy it for the feel good read it is.

Time to Laugh: Stay with Me (The PI Guys, #1) by S.E. Harmon

Dreamspinner Presents

https://www.dreamspinnerpress.com/books/stay-with-me-by-se-harmon-2808-b

Blurb:

The PI Guys: Book One
Private investigator Mackenzie Williams’s newest client is everything he’s looking for in a guy—charming, beautiful, intelligent, and successful. There’s only one itty bitty problem—the guy’s not exactly gay. In fact, Jordan Channing is looking for a PI to follow his fiancée. The smart thing would be to thank Jordan for his time, turn Mr. Perfect away (don’t let the door hit you on the rump, thank you very much), and forget he exists.
Of course, Mackenzie has never been accused of doing the smart thing. Being a smart aleck is more his MO. Relationships aren’t up his alley, never have been. So why’s he so inexplicably drawn to his new client?

Jordan has always been the high achiever, a man who lives in a focused, controlled, and carefully constructed manner. But for the first time in his life, he has to admit the impossible—another man is getting his engine running on all cylinders. Despite Jordan’s denial, it’s not long before he can no longer resist the strong undercurrents pulling them together. Now Jordan must decide if he can go against everything he’s ever known to have the only love he’s ever wanted.

Review:

I loved the overall story – GFY done right, but I didn’t like Mac much until half way in. He just seemed a bit childish … but I did like his snark. Mac eventually grew on me, (I ended up really liking him when he popped up in ‘So into You’).
Mac is a PI who is still hurting from being dumped from a long-term relationship. To make matters worse, his ex decided to be with a woman AND the he took the dog. (This creates a funny secondary storyline as Mac schemes to get the dog back.)
Jordan hires Mac to watch his girlfriend for signs of cheating. Mac is immediately attracted to the straight man but knows nothing can come of it. Yet, as they spend time together, Jordan becomes attracted to Mac (and conflicted about his feelings for another man). Mac doesn’t make it easy either and is not without faults – he tends to push people away, he doesn’t believe love is for him and he hides behind his sarcasm. However, they manage to start a relationship but it’s not plain sailing. They have a big fight (both men are to blame), but in the end, they get it together and work it out.
It’s a really good story, once it gets going and by the end, I had a good sized smile on my face ☺

Six years ago Ellis walked into his first briefing as the newest member of London’s Specialist Firearms unit. He was partnered with Wayne and they became fast friends. When Wayne begins to notice changes—Ellis’s erratic temper, the effects of sleep deprivation—he knows he has to act before Ellis reaches his breaking point. He invites Ellis to the opening of the new BDSM club, Secrets, where Wayne has a membership. His purpose? He wants Ellis to glimpse the lifestyle before Wayne approaches him with a proposition. He wants to take Ellis in hand, to control his life because he wants his friend back, and he figures this is the only way to do it.

There are a few issues, however. Ellis is straight. Stubborn. And sexy. Wayne knows he has to put his own feelings aside to be what Ellis needs. What surprises the hell out of him is finding out what Ellis actually requires.

Review

Previously reviewed here.

I loved this book!
This is a spin off or continuation of the Collars and Cuffs series and we get to see many of our favorite characters. Eli and Jarrod have moved to London and bought, updated and reopened the local BDSM club. Wayne introduces Ellis to the club on opening night and from there our story develops.
Wayne is the perfect person/Dom to Ellis. I liked how he was firm but not controlling. So much of Wayne’s Dom personality was integrated into his everyday life and everyone looked to him to guide them through their work situations. When he approached Ellis about starting a dom/sub relationship, he wasn’t heavy handed, he was reassuring and low key about it.
Ellis was a mess. He just wants to keep everyone happy and it was now affecting both his personal and work life, as well as him not taking care of himself. As Wayne and Ellis continue to explore and learn each other, it is probably one of the most caring exploration into BDSM I’ve ever seen.

Whatever training Joel had before he got into narration has only helped solidify his place as one of the outstanding narrators in this genre. His ability to do many different accents make the story realistic and his timing and inflection help build the high and low points of the story!
There is never any hesitation to purchasing a book narrated by Joel, as I always know I will get a quality product!
