Blurb:
Sometimes love takes balls.

Newly retired championship footballer Simon Wood is taking on his next challenge. His plan for a charity to provide funding for underprivileged children to pursue football as a career has passed its first hurdle: he has backers and an executive consultant. Now it’s time to get the ball rolling.
Lucien Morel, heir to the multibillion-euro Morel Corporation, is shocked—and thrilled—to learn his father has volunteered him as consultant to a fledgling football charity. Better yet, the brains behind it all is heartthrob Simon Wood, his teenage idol and crush.
Although Simon and Lucien get off on the wrong foot, it’s not long before they’re getting along like a house on fire—sparks included. But with the charity under public scrutiny, can their romance thrive?

Review: It’s an OK story –I probably would have enjoyed it more if I had read The Bunny and the Billionaire (the MC’s of that book popped up a bit in this story). I liked Simon and Lucien, they were very good together. The relationship between both men developed from a friendship that very soon evolved into mutual attraction. However, Simon, while bisexual, has never been out in public with a man.

I liked the premise of the story, (establishing a charity for underserved kids), allowing one to see the inner (good) qualities of both men.

Seb Yarrick is a solid narrator – he doesn’t have a whole lot of range, though he did a passable job with Lucien’s (French) accent. I liked listening to him, (definitely made the book more enjoyable for me). To me, he’s more of a ‘comfy’ reader, one I would listen to again.

Story: 3 stars
Narration: 3.5 stars

Overall 3.25 stars rounded to 3 stars

Release Day Review: Hockey Holidays Anthology!

release day review

Blurbs

(I didn’t include the m/f stories because I didn’t read them – the VAST majority of this anthology is m/f – which… if that’s what you like will make you very happy!!!!)

Dallas Christmas by RJ Scott
Logan knows lusting after his captain’s brother can only lead to trouble. But when fate throws them together, it’s hard not to fall in love.

Review

This was super sweet but angsty as fuck too. I really thought Logan was a dick for most of the story and it kinda made me want to stab him. I thought he finally grew a pair but I’m not sure he deserved his HEA.

Holding On Tight by Susan Scott Shelley
For defenseman Vince Forsberg and his boyfriend Joseph Parelli, the pressure to make their first Christmas together perfect leads to a lot of chaos, holiday mishaps, and some unexpected results.

Review

Maybe this would have meant more if I’d read the original story… which is not out yet so…

A Star-Crossed Christmas by V.L. Locey
Two years ago, Mitch shared an explosive kiss with his childhood friend Shaun. Will Christmas be the time for the two men to find a future together that works?

Review

This was the best of the m/m stories. I really loved their chemistry and their relationship building.

4 of 5 stars

This is a book for charity so I think it’s totally worth buying but it’s heavily laden with m/f stories.

Overall 3 of 5 stars
