Stefano Rossi longs for the mystical—and so far unattainable—peace of reaching subspace. But can he accept that the person who can take him there is a man?

Riku Tao has given up on finding a sub who complements him. He’ll stick with doing demonstrations at the BDSM club the Edge. He certainly doesn’t have time for a closeted Catholic guy with internalized biphobia… and yet he cannot help but want to protect Stefano and give him what he needs. A history of physical and sexual abuse makes it impossible for Stefano to come out of the closet, and Riku certainly isn’t going back in.

Perhaps an arrangement of six months to explore their desires will be enough to satisfy them both.

Or it might break their hearts.

To take hold of his future with the man he’s coming to love, Stefano will need to move beyond the pain of his past, and he won’t be able to do it alone.

Review

Very moving and inspiring OFY romance with incredibly well-rounded main characters. High on hurt/comfort and genuine emotions, very nuanced story-telling. Riku and Stefano both need the connection and love they find with each other, but it’s not an easy road to happiness. Stefano has gone through so much when he was younger, and it still haunts him to the present day, preventing him from being happy or being able to truly connect with others. It was heartbreaking to read his story, so much raw pain… When he finds Riku and is almost astonished at being treated with gentleness and care… that just touched me so deeply. Riku is an amazing character. As I read this, I got incredibly invested into the well-being of Stefano and Riku both. Stefano struggles to accept himself for who he is, in more than one way, but seeing him get to a better place, step by small step, was wonderful. I loved that Stefano found it within himself to reach out for help and to recognize his own strength and self-worth in the process. Very satisfying HEA. Recommend.

Female/Female Review: Little Love by Siobhan Smile

Good Reads

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/48388738-little-love?from_search=true&qid=RClVuDqeyn&rank=1

Blurb

When the perfect little stumbles into your life, what are you to do?

Lindy Rubin performed every task per her own strict routine. However, she was speeding toward forty and becoming bored with her orderly life. When she began to assess the emptiness of her personal life, she hadn’t expected the surprise destined to arrive. Was it fate that brought a beautiful girl with teary, azure eyes to her doorstep? If so, who was she to deny her Little Love help in her moment of need.

Author’s Note: This Lesbian Romance contains elements of Age Play and Domestic Discipline (D/s), if those are subjects you find objectionable please don’t read.

Review

A fluently written f/f romance with plenty of chemistry between the MC’s, though I’d have liked it better if the emotional bond between Lindy and Katy had been a bit more developed as well. I love the out for you trope but I think the author tried to do a little too much here in one story, a bisexual awakening, discovering a submissive side as well your inner little, and all seemingly out of nowhere, all because of one chance meeting. None of these “discoveries” were handled in a way that I found believable or compelling. There were some fun and sweet moments between Katy and Lindy but somehow I was never completely convinced of their potential as a couple.
Lindy is a strong, if rather too controlling character, and I felt she was too pushy and domineering as a Mommy, occasionally even for a Domme for that matter. She talks a good talk, but her actions didn’t always reflect her good intentions. Katy remained a bit of a bland, conflicting mystery and I couldn’t really see her as a little.

Recent Release: The Dragon CEO’s Assistant (Golden Kingdom #2) by Jenn Burke

Dreamspinner

Blurb
The heart remembers.

When Aidan Bishop staggers out of the woods, naked and suffering from amnesia, he needs to relearn who he is and where he fits in the world.

His boss, nearly five-hundred-year-old dragon Nassim, head of a successful tech company, hurries to claim his wayward assistant and guide him back into the life he disappeared from. As they get to know each other again, Aidan wonders if their relationship went deeper than employer and employee. But Nassim isn’t telling, and Aidan has a secret of his own… even if he doesn’t know it yet.

Review

I’ve always been a great fan of the amnesia trope, and this one was really well-written. The author had a couple of surprises up her sleeve and I really liked how she built up the mystery surrounding Aiden and Nassim. Aiden especially is quite the dark horse. There’s a trail of crumbs to (mis)direct the reader, which was a lot of fun to search out, trying to connect the dots. As the story built, so did unexpected outside threats to Aiden and Nassim, bringing a new level of tension and suspense to the story.

I’d have liked to have seen a bit more passion and romance between the main couple, but I still very much enjoyed their story. Both MC’s are complex, well-rounded characters and the strength of their bond and emotional connection shone through beautifully. Though this is a shifter story set within a fated mates universe, the mating here involves a degree of conscious choice that is usually lacking in this trope and that made for a nice change.

I loved the world and secondary characters the author created. The interactions between the MC’s and Nassim’s family and co-workers, as well as with the Gryphon court, were a delight and very heartwarming at times.

This was a great read that has definitely left me curious to see what’s next in this series.

Recent Release: Without Reservations (With or Without #1) by J.L. Langley

Dreamspinner

Blurb

Sometimes love catches you by the tail.

Native American veterinarian—and werewolf—Chayton Wilson dreams of a fair-haired mate. However, he’s shocked to find his mate is a man. He’s not quite sure what to do with a male mate, but he’s more than willing to find out.

Keaton Reynolds wakes up in wolf form and finds himself with a mate. He’s instantly attracted, but not thrilled to find out the man is supposedly straight. A past relationship where his partner denied being gay left a bad taste in his mouth. Keaton wants to make a break for it and pretend he never set eyes on Chay—but Chay is not ready to let him go.

Together they work to battle prejudice and solidify their shaky relationship. Chay must deal with not only his mother’s preconceptions about gay men but also her hatred of white people. When a power struggle in Keaton’s pack threatens Keaton’s life, the two men must quickly learn whether they can depend on each other.

Second Edition
First Edition published by Samhain Publishing, Ltd., October 2006.

Review

A wonderful shifter GFY romance! I really liked the world-building and how the author wrote the whole fated mates angle. Chay has his work cut out for him, getting over his own shock at finding such an unexpected mate and persuading Keaton to give them a chance. Keaton is a firecracker, quick to jump to conclusions, easy to anger, but he grew on me as the story progressed.

There’s an element of suspense as well, which was very well written, with the author throwing the reader for a loop as to where the danger is actually coming from.
Despite this being a paranormal story, it still has elements of (sadly) real life prejudice and homophobia, which brought added depth to the story.

I enjoyed getting to know some of the secondary characters, especially Remi. I do love me a good redemption story and he definitely has potential for one of those.

Recent Release: Want Me (Extracurricular Activities #1-7)

Good Reads

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/45470330-want-me?from_search=true

Blurb
Two roommates. One calculus exam. A whole lot of extracurricular activity.

Nate:
Living with four other guys, it’s bound to happen.
Every guy’s been caught taking care of business at least once, right?
It shouldn’t be a big deal.

But I don’t know Eric as well as my other roommates, and things are a little awkward now.
He’s a loner. A mystery. Quietly confident. Smart.
Sexy as hell.

I’ve been happily subsisting on the typical frat guy diet of booze and sorority girls.
But the way Eric looked at me that night?
There was something there.
Something that’s got me curious.
Something that’s stirring up feelings I thought I’d left behind for good.

Something that’s making me think I’m not as straight as I thought I was.

I can’t get him off of my mind.
I don’t think I want to.

So when he offers to help me study for a midterm, I take him up on it.

It’s innocent.
Probably. Maybe.

There’s no way I could’ve known what it’d start…

Review
The combination of heat and angst is absolutely deliciously done. The pull between Eric and Nate is of epic proportions and it seems as if every time they give into it, the flames roar even higher. This is without a doubt one of the steamiest, hottest stories I’ve ever read.

Eric and Nate fight the impossible fight, trying to resist their mutual attraction and the softer feelings growing alongside it. Matters between them are complicated even further because Nate’s not out and doesn’t seem to want to be, putting Eric in a difficult, vulnerable position. This continuous battle, and the underlying potential for more, are at the heart of what makes this story so enthralling. When they fall and chose to be together, all the emotions and heat are amplified to new heights. It’s so incredibly satisfying to finally see them reach that happy place together though. What a wonderful story!

Recent Release: Not Gonna Lie (#Lovehim series #4) by S.M. James

Good Reads

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/44600013-not-gonna-lie

Blurb

Everyone has their secrets.

Last year Digi walked out on Webcon, on his fans, and on Gram.

Now he’s back determined to give what they had a real shot, but Gram is more prickly than ever, not willing to risk his heart again.

Despite trying to stay out of the spotlight, the anonymous Public Service Announcements draw Digi back in. As the secrets of the internet’s top celebrities are leaked to the world, it’s only a matter of time before Digi and Gram are next.

To get through it, they have to set their rivalry aside.

Will Digi handle the pressure of the bright lights long enough to find who is tearing their world apart? Or will the threat of full exposure be too much for him to handle?

Review

Swoon…Where to even start? This was just such an amazing story! I’m totally in love with this entire series and I’m at a loss to comprehend how it can keep getting better with every new title but it so does!

Each book tackles different issues and diverse characters in the most amazing, sensitive, moving way, always keeping the perfect balance between humor and genuine emotion, lighthearted scenes and angst-filled ones. There are a couple of surprising plot twists and I really liked how the tension built with every new secret that got leaked.

Digi and Gram’s feelings for each other are so intense, even when they’re still “frenemies” so to speak. My heart ached for them throughout the book. Digi is struggling so much with his low self-esteem and his eating disorder, and he remains completely unaware of Gram’s feelings for him for a long time. Gram is so endearing, even hiding as he as behind his snarky attitude and angry outbursts, all the while secretly pining for Digi.

I simply adore Digi and Gram and I was over the moon to get little glimpses of Archie and Yarran as well as Brooks and Darien. I love how all the characters of the different books in the series are connected somehow and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that some of the secondary characters will get their own book in the hopefully near future.

Blurb

Tattoo artist Max Marshall races into his hometown of Sweetwater, West Virginia—and is promptly pulled over for speeding. Max’s luck isn’t all bad, though, because he recognizes the deputy, Tyler Reed, Max’s childhood best friend’s older brother.

Reconnecting with Tyler helps Max settle back in, and it also leads to attraction. But when he tries to explore that connection at the grand opening of his tattoo studio—by kissing Tyler—awkwardness ensues. Max wants more, but has he misread Tyler’s signals?

As a single father raising a six-year-old daughter, Tyler doesn’t have much time to date. He’s ignored his attraction to men for years, but he can’t stop thinking about the kiss he shared with Max. If he can handle the complications of dating in a small town and the possible consequences to his career, this romance could blossom with all the colors of summer.

Review: This is one of those stories that will be reread for a ‘feel good’ pick me feeling ☺
Max returns to his hometown to be closer to his mum. On his way in, the first person he meets is his old crush-turned-deputy, Tyler. As they get reacquainted, Max’s crush rekindles, helped along by Tyler’s interest.
I really enjoyed many things about the story, especially the unhurried way the two men got together, how sweet the supporting cast were, especially Juniper and her uncles. There was even a bit of suspense, which became a catalyst for both men to define their relationship. The story is really angst-free, but there is a depth that left me with a satisfied feeling ☺

This book started out so good! I loved the idea of this quiet guy reconnecting with his sexuality with a younger more “out there” guy in a small town. Plus tattoos!

At first things were really good, but then it deteriorated rapidly.

I was not happy.
