Silver fox Curtis is everything baker Andrew could want in a sub, and their chemistry is off the charts. But as a wealthy and successful gallery owner, Curtis intimidates Andrew and challenges his dominant nature. Can Andrew get used to a sub with a much higher social status?

British noble Curtis Morris has all but given up on finding his perfect Dom when he walks into a bakery and meets Andrew Granger—smoldering hot, new to Miami, into the lifestyle, and with kinks that align perfectly with Curtis’s own.

Andrew grew up poor and doesn’t know if he can handle a sub with so much more money, even if he’s insanely attracted to Curtis. To make matters worse, Curtis’s preferred club, Whisper, is far beyond Andrew’s financial means. Still, Andrew doesn’t want to lose Curtis to his own hang-ups, not when Curtis is far from the elitist snob Andrew expected. But Andrew keeps messing up, and with Curtis’s rich ex visiting with the hopes of winning him back, he and Curtis will need all the help they can get to make their romance of opposites work out.

Review
Whilst I enjoyed this book it’s not my favourite out of the series. This is a gentle romance without the angst or frustration I usually feel because the characters don’t talk to each other. Here Curtis and Andrew do talk out their problems. Andrew takes time to examine the issues he has over Curtis having more money than him. Maybe it was too nice and that sometimes I need a bit more angst to ramp up the tension. The scenes between them are hot, I mean sex-hd.xxx scenes hot. Taking time to know each other’s preferences. Their kink is not pain and it’s great to read of a Dom who is not all macho but has doubts and is not afraid to voice them. I don’t know if it’s too nice for me, I can’t pin point why I didn’t take to this story like I did the others. I enjoy the series and the brief catch up with characters from previous books but it’s not necessary to read them to enjoy this book.

Review

This is a competently written story with a diverse cast of secondary characters and it has some very nice moments between the two MC’s, Curtis and Andrew. On the whole, though, I remain unconvinced and slightly unimpressed.

My main problem with this book is Andrew. I can understand him being somewhat insecure but his hang-ups about money are out of proportion, to say nothing about his struggle to overcome his seemingly ingrained ideas of (toxic) masculinity. He doesn’t handle either of those issues well at all and it directly impacts how he treats Curtis, not once, not twice…

Curtis and Andrew go from an awful first date to I love you’s at breakneck speed and I just couldn’t believe it. It felt forced. Things also get too melodramatic for my taste once Curtis’s ex, Jasper, makes a reappearance.

Take one former SEAL with a healthy dose of regret…

Nick St. Cloud is living with shame from the one time he let his lust override his sense of honor. He’s haunted by the memory of when he made love to his best friend’s eighteen-year-old son. The tragic accident that happened that same night has only compounded his guilt. A decade later, he’s doing his best to be there for Charlie’s son, but anything more than that just wouldn’t be right… would it?

Plus the younger guy who he’s tried to forget…

It’s been ten years. Ten long years. Does Shaw Michaelson feel bad about having seduced his dad’s best friend? Umm, maybe? Although he could’ve done things differently, Shaw can’t find it within himself to be sorry for the hottest night of his life with the one man he’s never been able to forget. The man he’s patterned every subsequent relationship after… yeah, Shaw totally has a type.

Equals a pair of men who deserve a second chance at a first time.

The two men are living in an uneasy peace within the same small town and circle of friends, being careful not to let the other get close enough to open old wounds. All their walls fall when a stalker begins terrorizing Shaw, sending him running to the one man he knows will keep him safe.

Review:
Nick and Shaw are two men with a past and that past has turned both of their lives upside down. Each man has dealt with the aftershocks of one single night in a different way. Nick tries to keep his distance but still wants to protect Shaw from any danger, yet Shaw cannot seem to get over the pain of Nick only seeing him as a child and ignoring the sparks that they have together. When a new and more dangerous threat targets Shaw the two must put aside their differences and work together to keep Shaw safe. Soon the sparks that never went out between them build into an inferno and they must look the fire in the eye and make some choices before it is too late.
Nick and Shaw’s book is a beautiful read full of emotions. I loved seeing both men find a way to get through the struggles that they have and fight for their love. As the two spend more time together they find that they must realize that the past is just that the past. Nothing can change the past, but they must begin to heal by letting go of the hurt and finding the strength to look towards the future. Shaw and Nick are both strong men and learn to help each other heal. With the help of wonderful friends, they work to figure out who is the danger to Shaw is and how to deal with them. I enjoyed seeing everyone pull together to keep Shaw safe. The love and devotion that Shaw and Nick have shows through in all that they do and makes this not only a hot read but also a wonderful romance.

Release Day Review: Educating the Professor by Sean Michael

Blurb

Kenneth Brannigan is a small-town history professor. He’s happy with his life, loves the classes he teaches, and lives in a tiny apartment in a converted house with his best friend, Tim, next door. He’s still recovering from a bad breakup and is content to stick to his comfortable routine. It’s Tim who insists he come to the Queer Alliance’s Rainbow Mixer.

At the mixer, Kenn meets David Burgundy, a new-to-town TA who is working on his masters. Dave is drawn immediately to Kenn and is thrilled when Kenn offers to show him the best pizza place in town. One meal leads to two, which leads to Dave and Kenn spending most of their free time together… and Kenn loosening his self-imposed rules regarding dating and sex for some kinky fun.

Kenn’s ex isn’t going to just let Kenn be, though, and the happier Kenn is with Dave, the less the ex likes it. Will Kenn continue to run away from his past, or will his relationship with Dave help him face it head-on?

Review

This was a cute and sweetly kinky romance story. I thought it would have a bit of a May-December vibe going, because one MC is a professor and the other a TA, but both characters are more or less the same age and interestingly enough it wasn’t the professor dictating the rules in the relationship. Role-reversals like that are like catnip to me, loved that.

Kenn and Dave are drawn to each other from the first, but Kenn has secrets he doesn’t think he can share with his new friend/lover. So he tries to keep his distance and protect both their hearts, but he’s no match for Dave’s gentle persistence and understanding. To say nothing of the startling chemistry they share.
Kenn has a truly awful ex that doesn’t seem to know how to stay in the past where he belongs. It was great to see Kenn, eventually, stand up to that controlling jerk though. The BDSM part of the story certainly added spice, though it remains more on the level of their playing the occasional scene together rather than a 24/7 D/s lifestyle romance.

Definitely an enjoyable read.

Trigger warning: Please be aware that this story deals with suicidal ideation. If this is a subject you find uncomfortable, then this book is not recommended.

Review
Okeeehh.. rubbing my hands over my face… that was a….harsh, devastating, heartbreaking, breath stopping story.

I was on the edge of quitting, but of course not really because I just couldn’t stop.. Alexander deserved it to be heard… and to finished his story…

We get to know Austin and how he is intrigued by Alexander.
Alexander decided to let Austin into his life… but also hold him and the whole world at bay.
Austin was very protective but oblivious to the extent of Alexander pain.
It was an almost unbearable journey to go through. Really really hard.
Alexander’s life is difficult … more than difficult… he exists only.
He deceived everyone around him… e.v.e.r.y.o.n.e. to let them think he had sort of a normal life.
He has one goal… o.n.e.

This story was more than overwhelming. At times I had to remind myself to breath… I was just holding it in because it was all so devastating.
Amazingly written in a tentative but also almost unbearable realistic way. Very well done.
The heavyweight topic was palpable throughout the whole story.

This story has some serious triggers so be aware of the content and read the blurb.
