Blurb: On the verge of bankruptcy, private investigator, Mitch O’Reilly takes any gig that comes his way, while running his Eye Spy Supply shop in a forgotten Los Angeles strip mall. After two tours in Afghanistan, Mitch’s life amounts to operating his store, coping with his fun-loving sister, Josie, and scoring with anonymous men he meets online. That changes when he gets a break. A beloved comedy scriptwriter is murdered at a bathhouse, and Mitch is hired to prove the innocence of the club custodian. Adapting from a two-bit gumshoe to a high-profile sleuth proves more challenging than he expected.
As if Mitch didn’t have enough to deal with, charismatic bathhouse operator, Trent Nakos, enters his life. After a heartbreaking past, the manager is the definition of a man the brooding P.I. actively avoids.

Following leads from sprawling mansions to sketchy hoods is demanding but becomes more troublesome when deadly threats jeopardize the biggest opportunity of his career.

Review: This is more of a mystery with a dash of romance thrown in – I liked it! The story was entertaining, with bits of humour (sometimes dark ☺), a good mystery with interesting, and good, but flawed characters (Mitch especially).
Mitch is trying to keep his business from going bankrupt when he lands a job that could get him more clients. During his investigation of the murder, he meets Trent, the man whose innocence he needs to prove. Their interactions were definitely not romantic; Mitch was sometimes abrupt, bordering on rude, while Trent seemed a bit of a nitwit. What I really enjoyed was the mystery – the misdirection, the possible choices for the murderer and the way I had to follow the whodunit story through Trent’s POV.
As for the romance, or lack thereof, I do hope that in future books both MC’s interact more.
