Welcome to the world of Rescue for Hire. Meet the team members who make up a company that forms a family of heroes. Jack Woods is a paramedic on the team, a caregiver by nature, but in his off time he turns into a wild, hard partier. After watching his best friend and boss fall in love, he decides he wants that. Putting his partying ways behind him turns out to be harder than he thought when an ex won’t stay an ex.
Brian Hayward is tiny, delicate, and fragile. He has never felt like an accepted part of anything. Meeting Jack and being brought into the family of the rescue team is a dream come true. Then a horrible tragedy strikes, causing Jack to use his every medical skill to keep life going.
Can Brian and Jack’s relationship survive the consequences of the past? When the whole team moves in, can the couple survive the chaos?
Jack is the medic at Rescue for hire. He finds Brian Hayward (aka Sweets aka Pip) when he rescues the man after his child care center is attacked. Just like his Boss, once Jack meets Pip he knows he’s the “one”.
Brian is a very small guy, he was born prematurely and has remained petite his entire life. He loves kids and dogs and wouldn’t hurt a fly. The rest of his family are sports fanatics so he’s never felt included or loved for being himself.
Jack and Pip make a home fairly quickly but are stymied by one of Jack’s exes – Sherry. She ends up with a big surprise and won’t take no for an answer.
This another great Alpha/small guy story. Pip is really sweet and ends up being a central figure in the series (along with Jack, of course.) Pip’s family also ends up playing a role in the series and they’re more problem than can be imagined.
I really enjoyed this on Audio, too – Darcy Stark does a lovely job with the voices and this is a great way to experience this book/series.
