Dreamspinner Presents

A Dreamcatchers Tale
Twin souls reunited.
Drew’s always been a fighter: first in martial arts competitions, and now as a dreamcatcher—keeping the people of Seattle safe from spaga attacks that would drain their life force in their sleep. All he has to do to become a full member of Team 32 is complete his first mission.
But the first person he must defend is his ex, Angelo… the only man Drew ever loved, even if he was the one to leave. Drew never got over Angelo, and it seems Angelo might feel the same, despite the heartbreak he suffered at Drew’s hands.
As the chase after a powerful and resourceful caster hits close to home, old feelings resurface. But if Angelo learns of the dreamcatchers, he’ll be a target for the spaga. And how can he trust Drew now that Drew’s keeping bigger secrets than ever?

I love paranormal/sci fi! This really intrigued me because of the unique world building. Dream catchers fight Spaga who steal life force by invading regular human dreams. Each Dream catcher has a unique set of gifts to fight these Spaga and must do their job in secrecy.

While I found most of the fantasy stuff to be interesting, not all of it made sense to me and I found the Spaga to be a bit too easy to catch.

I’m not a fan of reunion stories and this was simply too easy for me to find really entrancing. Drew (for some reason) totally abandoned Angelo years ago and despite the INTENSE connection between the two. When they are reunited Angelo accepts Drew back pretty much instantaneously and it wasn’t very rewarding.

The other-worldly aspects of the story were interesting enough to keep me reading the series but this was a little too easy, too sugary and not enough substance for me to love it.

Hurricane Reese by RL Merrill Blog Tour and Excerpt and Giveaway!

OS: Welcome to RL Merrill here to talk about their new book!

Thank you so much for having me on Open Skye today! Hurricane Reese has been one of my favorite stories to write as it includes so many elements that really appeal to me: musical theater, dance, a hilarious grandfather, humor, family and a cast of multicultural, multigenerational family and friends that really make this story special. Reese was a blast to write because while he’s everything many of us fantasize about, we have Jude to show that just because someone is sexy, talented, and gorgeous, that doesn’t mean living with them is a picnic. Jude is the kind of guy who deserves a HEA because he’s worked so hard to take care of everyone else. In my previous stories I’ve written all kinds of love affairs and characters from various parts of the LGBTQ spectrum, but this the first time my two main characters have been men and I LOVED telling their tale. It was a natural progression for me and I have so many more stories in the works. So check out Hurricane Reese, check out my self-published work, and stay tuned for more Rock ‘n’ Romance!

Please leave a comment about your favorite musical, grandparent or just make me laugh and I’ll randomly choose one commenter to win a $10 gift certificate to Dreamspinner AND an e-copy of Hurricane Reese!

Tony award-winning musician Reese Matheson’s life resembles a natural disaster, and caregiver Jude De La Torre is caught in the eye of the storm. Can the love these two opposites find together survive caring for an ornery octogenarian with wayward balls and a meddling family insistent upon tradition?

A public break-up is not what Reese expects upon returning from the successful run of his musical in London. All he wants to do is spend time with his beloved grandfather and musical mentor, who suffers from Alzheimer’s. Reese knows he doesn’t have much time left before the elder Matheson doesn’t remember him. In classic “Hurricane Reese” form, he moves into the cottage by the sea, displacing Jude, the intriguing caregiver he’d hired two years before. When Grandpa proves too much for Reese to handle on his own, Jude comes to his rescue, taming Grandpa… and the Hurricane as well. Soon all Reese can think about is how to get Jude out of his scrubs and into his bed. Permanently. Will Hurricane Reese destroy everything in its wake, or will this gay odd couple learn to harmonize together?

Reese wanted to dive back in and keep kissing that delicious mouth. The moment he felt Jude give in, Reese knew every victory with Jude would be just as sweet. His lips…. God, Reese could explore those lips for an eternity and never completely know them. Jude was like a deep well of mystery that Reese wanted to get lost in. What was it about that quiet young man that made Reese want to roar?

He waited for a snappy comeback, but Jude seemed to have given up. Or given in, Reese hoped. He wanted Jude desperately, and though he knew the timing couldn’t be worse, he didn’t care one bit. There was a reason the two of them had been thrown together. Reese knew Jude would stand by him, and though he didn’t consider himself particularly manipulative, he planned to use the situation to his advantage. Who knew what would come of an affair with Jude? Reese had a feeling that, once they allowed themselves to experience a deeper level of passion with each other, there would be no turning back. And Reese was ready to move forward with that plan.

Jude looked around the SUV as Reese waited for him to accept that he had no alternative. He was counting on Jude’s exhaustion to spur him forward, and in the end, that was probably what finally got Jude to climb out of the car and shut the door.

“Did you want me to grab anything?” Reese asked, trying to keep the triumphant smile off his face.

Jude just raised that eyebrow once more and then turned his back on Reese, moving in that sensual way that had Reese panting after him. He needed to cool his jets a bit. It wouldn’t do to strip Jude down and bend him over the first available surface. He’d have to be creative. And there was Grandpa to consider. He knew Reese had a colorful love life, and he didn’t keep his opinions about it to himself. It didn’t bother Reese, but he had a feeling Jude would take the grumblings of the old man personally. Reese could tell he was sensitive that way.

If only they were going into the house alone. Reese intended to feast on Jude for hours… just as soon as he had an opportunity. As though he heard Reese’s thoughts, Jude turned and looked back at him as he climbed the steps to the porch. Oh, Jude, you’re in so much trouble.

Once upon a time… a teacher, tattoo collector, mom, and rock ’n’ roll kinda gal opened up a doc and started purging her demons. Several self-published books and a debut gay romance with Dreamspinner Press later, R.L. Merrill is still striving to find that perfect balance between real life and happily ever after. She writes stories set in the places she loves most, such as Hollywood, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Northern California—and Iowa. Ro also loves connecting with other authors online, at the annual Romantic Times Booklovers Convention, and chapter meetings for the Romance Writers of America, of which she’s been a member since 2014.

A sucker for underdogs, Ro has adopted a wide variety of pets including cats, dogs, rats, a snake and fish. Her love of horror is evident the moment you walk in her door and find yourself surrounded by decorative skulls and quirky artwork from around the world. 13106711_10156802171995414_1691349163_oAbout Junkyard Heart

Tired of the London rat race and the heartbreak that comes with it, photographer Jas Manning returns to Porthkennack, the Cornish seaside town where he spent every childhood summer on his father’s farm. Resigned to year-round rain, wind, and homemade jam, he’s sorely unprepared for the impact that artsy carpenter Kim Penrose has on his heart.

Kim’s free-loving reputation precedes him, and he’s as generous with his inked-up body as he is with his time. The sex is hot, the easy friendship even better, and Jas’s time with him building his family’s new farmhouse canteen is everything Jas was missing in his empty city life.

But Kim’s carefree existence isn’t as simple as it appears. He’s worked hard to vanquish his demons and build his dreams, but the devil on his shoulder is ruthless, and when it comes to call, their happy bubble bursts like it was never there at all. The canteen opening looms, but Kim is gone in more ways than one, and it’s down to Jas to shore up Kim’s soul and convince him that he deserves his place in Jas’s heart.

About Porthkennack

Welcome to Porthkennack, a charming Cornish seaside town with a long and sometimes sinister history. Legend says King Arthur’s Black Knight built the fort on the headland here, and it’s a certainty that the town was founded on the proceeds of smuggling, piracy on the high seas, and the deliberate wrecking of cargo ships on the rocky shore. Nowadays it draws in the tourists with sunshine and surfing, but locals know that the ghosts of its Gothic past are never far below the surface.

This collaborative story world is brought to you by five award-winning, best-selling British LGBTQ romance authors: Alex Beecroft, Joanna Chambers, Charlie Cochrane, Garrett Leigh, and JL Merrow. Follow Porthkennack and its inhabitants through the centuries and through the full rainbow spectrum with historical and contemporary stand-alone titles.

Laugh Cry Repeat by John Inman

release day review

Dreamspinner Presents

Wyeth Becker is a quiet man. Staid, serious, calm. A librarian. When he meets preschool teacher Deeze Long, he discovers joy for the first time in his life. With joy comes laughter, excitement, and a new way to look at the world through the eyes of the kindest, most loving man he has ever met.

When tragedy strikes and Deeze loses his joy, it is Wyeth who helps him find it again. It is Wyeth, the man who never truly understood happiness, who pays that gift back. Giving all he can of himself to the man who changed his life. Restoring in Deeze what he now so desperately needs.

But the road of their relationship doesn’t end there. The joys and sorrows of life are never-ending. As they set out to weather the highs and lows together, Wyeth and Deeze hang on to the one thing that makes all the tears and laughter worthwhile.

For only through love can life be truly savored at all.

The first half of the book is a mixture of opposites attract and humour. Wyeth is reserved and has his set routines. Deeze on the other hand is much more quirky and free spirited. I enjoyed the unusual way they met and Deeze’s way of wooing a reluctant Wyeth. He takes not accepting no to a whole new level. Deeze knows it’s because Wyeth is hesitant rather than not interested. I do think Wyeth’s dog Chaucer is cute. Most of the time I didn’t quite get the humour of it, apart from when Chaucer the dog and Napoleon the cat met.

The push and pull of them reacting to each other keeps the momentum going. When they do get together there is such beautiful tenderness it was lovely to read. Wyeth’s self confidence grows along with their relationship. He is able to quell the fears he originally had about being with someone and not being dumped. As the relationship develops the humour lessens and the story becomes sweet and sensual. The tragedy happens at a high point in their relationship and tests it. After the happiness and joy of the previous part the tragedy did make me well up. It was so unexpected. Now Wyeth needed to help Deeze overcome his fears.

This story captivated me. I wanted to know what happens next, would Deeze win Wyeth (I kept wanting to call him Wyatt!) around? Would Chaucer and Napoleon ever get on? And then the sweet romance was lovely to read. Finally how would they cope after the tragedy? All these things kept me turning the page and improved my opinion of the book. Initially I couldn’t see what would hold my interest for another hundred or so pages. It was the very clever switch in tempo as the relationship reached the next level that kept it fresh for me. The ending made me smile. A perfect finish and happy ever after.

Audiobook: Michael, Reinvented by Diana Copland Narrated by Michael Pauley

Dreamspinner Presents

Cute hipster and interior designer Michael doesn’t do love – not after his ex screwed him over. Sex is a different story, though, and the gentle giant who’s painting the mural in the old mansion they’re restoring might be perfect hookup material. Gil is just Michael’s type with his solid muscle, wicked sense of humor, and the hazel eyes that seem to see into Michael’s soul.

Trouble is, Gil does do love. He wants romance and forever, and he’s set his sights firmly on Michael. Michael’s not going there again.

Yet when Michael is the victim of a vandal who’s been plaguing the men working for Delta Restoration, Renovation, and Design, Gil is the first person he tells. No matter how he fights it, it’s becoming harder and harder to deny he’s crazy about the guy – even if that thought terrifies him. But the true fear sets in when the criminal behavior escalates, and Michael realizes he might have lost the chance to tell Gil how he feels – forever.

Review: The book was reviewed earlier – I loved it (
So, the audio review.
I like Michael Pauley, he’s an excellent narrator, but (and this is my personal thing), I find that he is not always a good fit for many of the books I have read and loved. However, he does a great job with this book ☺
Gil and Michael sounded just like I imagined; Michael’s snarky tone was spot on and Gil sounded solid, somewhat comfy, but kind of sexy. All the characters, (including the females), were well portrayed and distinct. Michael Pauley adds the little chuckles, inflections and emotions that make the narration so much more enjoyable.
Definitely recommend both the story and great narration.

Best Selling Author Kindle Alexander is an innovative writer, and a genre-crosser who writes classic fantasy, romance, suspense, and erotica in both the male/male and male/female genres. It’s always a surprise to see what’s coming next!

I live in the suburbs of Dallas where it’s true, the only thing bigger than an over active imagination, may be women’s hair!
Usually, I try for funny. Humor is a major part of my life – I love to laugh, and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations – regardless of the situation, but jokes are a tricky deal… I don’t want to offend anyone and jokes tend to offend. So instead I’m going to tell you about Kindle.

I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I’ll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died – weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn’t have to be alone.

That time in my life was terrible. It’s everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.

Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness – it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.

Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn’t a time she wasn’t there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love and harmony. It’s its own kind of support group. I know without question I wouldn’t be here today without her.

Spooky! Maelstrom (Whyborne & Griffin #7) Audiobook by Jordan L Hawk Narrated by Julian G Simmons

Amazon Link

Between his father’s sudden—and rather suspicious—generosity, and his own rash promise to help Christine plan her wedding, Percival Endicott Whyborne has quite enough to worry about. But when the donation of a mysterious codex to the Ladysmith Museum draws the attention of a murderous cult, Whyborne finds himself in a race against time to unlock its secrets first.

Griffin has a case of his own: the disappearance of an historic map, which quickly escalates to murder. Someone is sacrificing men in dark rituals—and all the clues lead back to the museum.

With their friends Christine and Iskander, Whyborne and Griffin must discover the cult’s true goal before it’s too late. For dark forces are afoot at the very heart of the museum, and they want more than Whyborne’s codex.

They want his life.

This one is my favourite! I know I feel this way about every book in this series, but that is only because they keep getting better! Even if you wouldn’t think it possible!

I am in awe of Ms. Hawke and in desperate love with Julian G. Simmons narration of her work. I cannot read these books. I need Julian to read them to me. And he will, over and over and over again. This series is a keeper and one for the ‘Continuos re-reads’ shelf!

Maelstrom draws on every other book in the series and neatly ties up ends you didn’t even realise were lose! Whilst still leaving enough room for desperate fangirls like me to hope and wish for more. It was awesome – and as always Mr. Simmons was amazing. He IS Whyborne.

This book was so intense that you just could not stop reading. And that ending! Oh lordy! Talk about a cliffhanger in the overall story arc! Cannot wait for the continuation of this plot!

If you haven’t already read this amazing series, you have to drop everything and go get it. And get the audio too while you are at it, it adds magnificently to the experience, so please, let Mr. Simmons read it to you.

Go get it! Now! You will not be sorry.

Gummy Bears & Grenades (THIRDS #9.5) by Charlie Cochet

release day review

Dreamspinner Presents

THIRDS agent Dexter J. Daley can’t wait to marry his fiancé, Team Leader Sloane Brodie, but first he’s looking forward to celebrating his bachelor party—which he intends to be a shenanigans-free evening of getting his groove on with family and friends.

Of course events don’t work out as planned, but for Dex that’s nothing new. One thing is for sure, dodging drug dealers and hired thugs amid booze, dancing—and even a bear costume—will guarantee it’s a night Dex will never forget. Now he just needs to survive all the fun.

Enjoy this bonus story from the THIRDS universe. These events occur between Darkest Hour Before Dawn and Tried & True in the series timeline. While reading this story would enhance your experience of the THIRDS series, it is not necessary to read before Tried & True.

This is a true portrayal of Dex and the trouble he seems to get into! What can you expect when he goes to his bachelor party with everyone but Sloane. Dancing, eating and drinking lead to some really hilarious situations. Only when you add Dex into the equation they are expanded into so much more.

Everyone is there, including Lou his ex, the whole Destrutive Delta team and their significant others, all of the Hobbs brothers, Hudson and Nina, Austin and unfortunately Wolf. I will say I loved the part where Sloane makes an appearance.

You can’t help but laugh throughout the whole story. This is a nice addition to the series

Suspicious Behavior by LA Witt and Cari Z Blog Tour and Giveaway!

About Suspicious Behavior

Detective Darren Corliss is hanging by a thread. In between recovering from a near-fatal wound and returning to work at a hostile precinct, he’s struggling to help care for his ailing brother. His partner and boyfriend, Detective Andreas Ruffner, wants to help, but doesn’t know how. And with his own family crises brewing, Andreas is spread almost as thin as Darren.

For cops, though, life takes a backseat to the job. When a stack of unsolved homicides drops into their laps, Andreas and Darren think they’re unrelated cold cases. But when a connection surfaces, they find themselves on the tail of a prolific serial killer who’s about to strike again.

Except they’ve got nothing. No leads. No suspects. Just a pile of circumstantial evidence and a whole lot of hunches. Time is running out to stop the next murder—and to pull themselves back from their breaking points.

Available now from Riptide Publishing.

About the Bad Behavior Series

It’s “hell no” at first sight for newly partnered detectives Andreas Ruffner and Darren Corliss. Darren is too chipper, Andreas is too gruff, and that whole “IA wants me to prove you’re a dirty cop” thing really doesn’t get them off on the right foot.

It doesn’t matter if they like each other. They’re partners and that’s final. Though Andreas is easy on the eyes. And Darren is kind of cute. And . . . okay, maybe they can make this work.

They’d better, because as their cases get more horrifying—and more personal—they’ll have to trust each other with their lives, and with their hearts.

About Cari Z.

Cari Z was a bookworm as a child and remains one to this day. In an effort to combat her antisocial reading behavior, she did all sorts of crazy things, from competitive gymnastics to alligator wresting (who even knew that was legal!) to finally joining the Peace Corps, which promptly sent her and her husband to the wilds of West Africa, stuck them in a hut, and said, “See ya!” She also started writing, because some things she just thought she could do better. She’s still climbing that ladder, but can’t stop herself from writing, or from sharing what she creates.

Cari enjoys a wide range of literary genres, from the classics (get ‘im, Ahab) to science fiction and fantasy of all types, to historical fiction and reference materials (no, seriously, there are so many great encyclopedias out there). She writes in a wide range of genres as well, but somehow 90% of what she produces ends up falling into the broad and exciting category of m/m erotica. There’s a sprinkling of f/m and f/f and even m/f/m in her repertoire, but her true love is man love. And there’s a lot of love to go around.

Cari has published short stories, novellas, and novels with numerous print and e-presses, and she also offers up a tremendous amount of free content on, under the name Carizabeth.
