An escape from the real world can only ever be temporary.

Rowan Stanton knows he is submissive. He loves to look after people but the country hotel he works at can’t quite fulfil his need to serve. When he succeeds at getting a new role as houseboy at The Retreat, an exclusive BDSM hideaway in the New Forest, he believes it’s his dream job. Inexperienced in many ways, he soon realises he’s not as prepared as he thought for the demands placed upon him.

Lorcan Wilder is young, rich and successful. He’s also haunted by nightmares and has sacrificed a decade to his business. Selling it gives him the freedom to explore his dominant side and four weeks at The Retreat are the start of a new life. He doesn’t expect the young submissive employed to serve him will have such a profound effect on him. Exploring and pushing Rowan’s boundaries is exactly what he needs to separate himself from his past.

Lorcan makes full use of The Retreat’s facilities from the genuine dungeon to the secret toys concealed in every room. He rediscovers his energy for life and gradually reengages with the world. However, his efforts to compartmentalise the past ultimately fail and he comes to realise what he’s always known – that true submissives have an inner strength he can only envy.

By the end of his stay, Lorcan can’t let Rowan go, though he thinks he must. What will convince him that’s he’s allowed a happy ever after and will he find the courage to accept it

Review
Have you ever started a book devouring every page then slowing down because it’s near the end and you don’t want it finish? Well that’s what I did with Serving Him. Oh boy I thought I loved Olly, Aiden, Alistair and all the other Subs and Dom’s from the Edge series but sweet sweet Rowen has claimed a piece of my heart.
Lorcan has come to the Retreat to claim back his life and start anew. Rowen has done the same. Both are now ready to bring BDSM more fully into their lives. Rowen is exploring being a submissive by working for The Retreat. An exclusive English Country House set up to cater for a wealthy Dominant’s every whim, whilst providing the utmost safety for the Submissive. Over his stay Lorcan and Rowen’s relationship turns towards love. But Rowen having already made one big change is unsure about the future. LM Somerton writes breathtaking scenes between Lorcan and Rowen. I could visualise everything and connect with the emotions between them. As I said earlier I didn’t want the story to end and had such a pout when it did. I want more. What happens next? There is definitely more to to tell about these two like Lorcan meeting Rowen’s family and the two of them visiting the Underground Club. Patience is a virtue so they say, so I’ll have to be virtuous for a while, yeah right as if!

Rules are made to be broken….

If England had yearbooks, I’d probably be “Arden St. Ives: Man Least Likely to Set the World on Fire.” So far, I haven’t. I’ve no idea what I’m doing at Oxford, no idea what I’m going to do next and, until a week ago, I had no idea who Caspian Hart was. Turns out, he’s brilliant, beautiful…oh yeah, and a billionaire.

It’s impossible not to be captivated by someone like that. But Caspian Hart makes his own rules. And he has a lot of them. About when I can be with him. What I can do with him. And when he’ll be through with me.

I’m good at doing what I’m told in the bedroom. The rest of the time, not so much. And now that Caspian’s shown me glimpses of the man behind the billionaire I know it’s him I want. Not his wealth, not his status. Him. Except that might be the one thing he doesn’t have the power to give me.

What can I say about Joel Leslie that has not been said before? Stellar performance, check; brilliant execution, check; brilliant performance, check.
Even though I’m not a fan of Dom/Sub relationships, I can say that it is well worth listening to how Joel captures Arden – his humour, his vulnerability. Joel Leslie’s personification of Caspian is spot on.
Highly recommend this outstanding performance!

Life is perfect for Richard and Dean. Richard is a wealthy and successful businessman who also owns a BDSM club, and Dean is a best-selling author and sub to Richard. They’re young, happy, and in love. The future is bright….

Until tragedy strikes and an accident claims Dean’s beloved sister. Dean finds himself the guardian of a three-month-old infant, and soon he’s trading in his leather fetish gear for diapers and drool bibs. But little Emily is all that remains of his family, so how can he abandon her?

It’s not what Richard signed up for. As much as he tries to be supportive, he never wanted kids and misses having his partner to himself. Suddenly the life he imagined for them is gone, and he’s not sure their relationship can survive the upheaval. But fate isn’t through with Dean, and when misfortune strikes again, will he be able to turn to the man he loves? A final crisis will determine if they can pull together as a family or must face facts and part ways

Review
It’s been a long time since I’ve stayed up until the early hours of the morning reading a book, but this one had me hooked. I must stress that if BDSM books are not your thing do not read this book. The Master/Sub relationship between Richard and Dean is made very clear from page one. Richard is a very strong character and is particularly self centred. He is a hardcore business man who stands for no nonsense. Not very likeable in the beginning but as the story progresses my opinion of him changes. Which I suppose shows skilful writing. I was taken on a journey with this family through a very turbulent time in their lives. Now this is the part where my feelings about the book are a bit muddled. I loved the building of tension as the very realistic issues hit this couple. I could relate to Richard’s resentment of baby Emily, in as much as the way an only child resents a new sibling. He is used to being Dean’s sole focus. Dean on the other hand seemed too willing to forgive. He doesn’t cope well with conflict but I can’t decide if he’s a pushover or not. He is a Sub that needs his Master’s protection and guidance. Which makes it even more reprehensible when Richard puts him in the position where he has to choose between his Master or his Niece.
I liked the way the story evolves. But here is my quandary. I mutter about stories that go around the houses to solve a situation that just takes straight talking and here I am when a story does just that thinking, well that was too easy!
The Master/Sub scenes are well written and quite evocative.
They clearly set the tone of their relationship and this comes across not only in the playroom scenes but also the 24/7 routines aspect of the relationship.
The story covers just over a year in Richard and Dean’s relationship and they do have a rollercoaster of a year but they do get a happy ever after. I will definitely be looking out for the next book in the series.

Review

This is Alexis Hall’s take on the Billionaire Dom trope and he does it so well.

I couldn’t help but love Arden St Ives, he is self depreciating and seeks reassurance in such a delightful way. There is a strength to Arden you don’t always see in the usual bildom stories. I do admire the way Alexis crafts his characters he gives them depth. Caspian Hart is an aloof, broody and commanding Billionaire but as the story progresses you glimpse an underlying fragility.

The story is told from Arden’s point of view. Arden is recruited to make calls seeking donations to St Sebastian’s collage and that’s where they first connect. Arden is smitten from the start. Caspian dominates the conversation and sets the tone for the rest of the story. I don’t want to go into details of the story because this is one to enjoy as it unfolds. The heat level is not high but it does seem to be setting it up for the next book. Be assured that the build up and negotiation do not lead to a cliffhanger they are left at HFN. I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait for the next one.
