Meet the Beteferoce brothers: five dragon shifters, each with a strong elemental power. And each with a fierce desire to find his soul mate…

He said he was flying on a silver dragon. He called me “Markus-meine.” Who would know all that? Who? And how?

SWAT cop and dragon shifter Mark Beteferoce had—and lost—a soul mate. He’s finally at the point where he can get through the days without thinking about what used to be…until he tastes Quincy O’Brien’s doughnuts and takes him home to play.

Quincy O’Brien is a gifted baker, but at night he dreams of soaring through the sky on dragonback and being topped by the perfect Dom. Mark satisfies the kinky urges Quincy has only explored in his subconscious, pushing his limits and caring for him afterward.

From the start, their connection was more than sexual. It’s known; it’s familiar somehow. And it’s slowly driving Mark insane. What shouldn’t be possible most certainly is, and the bond between himself and Quincy runs deeper than either of them could ever have realized.

Review

Mark once had a soulmate, but he was tragically taken from him. Since than he has hidden all his feelings and wants away never thinking that he would ever find love again. When Mark takes a chance and decides to try to have some enjoyment in his life again he finds Quincy. The two seem to be made for each other but after a wonderful night Mark hears words from his past come from Quincy. Mark is unsure of what this could mean but soon he must decide if he is truly blessed again with a rebirth of his soulmate and take a chance on love again or let Quincy and his second chance slip from his grasp.
I loved watching Quincy and Mark’s story unfold. The two men make a great couple. Both men have strong personalities and together they shine. It was nice to see the attraction that they share turn into something much deeper. Mark has lived in pain for so long and with Quincy he is given a second chance, but it is up to him to take it. I enjoyed the relationship and the banter between the two men. Mark is a good man and it was nice to see the different facets of his personality come out with Quincy.
Their story is heavy on the sex, but it is what brings these two together from the start and it is what centers and completes this pair. They are at the beginning of their relationship and it is something that is more than just fun and satisfying. It is a deeper level of connection for the men.
It was also nice to see the scenes with the three brothers and their soulmates enjoying themselves together, the strong connections both physical and mental was easy to see and the camaraderie was nice. All were ready to welcome Quincy and make him feel like family.
This is a sexy fast paced story that grabbed me right from the start and did not let go until the very end. The author has built a wonderous world around these dragons and I am excited to see what comes next in their world.

This hockey superstar needs to focus on his game — not on love.

Scott Hunter is the superstar captain of the New York Admirals hockey team. He has lived his entire adult life in the spotlight—and in the closet. One day he stops at a smoothie shop after a run and is immediately charmed by the cute guy behind the counter.

That guy is Kip Grady, an underemployed college grad who would never in a million years think he had a shot with the rich and famous Scott Hunter. Scott returns to the smoothie shop every game day, telling Kip—and himself—that he likes to stick to routine when he’s playing well. The chemistry between them is immediate and undeniable, and finally Scott tells Kip he’s interested and invites him to his penthouse.

They begin a passionate relationship full of red-hot sex and sweet romance. But after weeks of barely leaving the confines of Scott’s penthouse, Kip isn’t sure how much longer he can be Scott’s secret. With the pressures of the playoffs upon him, Scott needs to decide how big a risk he’s willing to take for Kip—and himself.

Review

Scott Hunter is so far in the closet he can hardly see daylight. Having lived his whole adult life playing professional hockey, a game not known for its gay friendly attitude on the ice, he feels he must hide this large part of himself. His sexual encounters are few and far between and usually in a foreign country where nobody knows him.
That all changes one day when he goes into a smoothie shop and sees the cute guy behind the counter.

Kip Grady is a college graduate still living in his childhood home because he can’t afford to move out, and working in a smoothie shop, a job he hates, until Scott Hunter, the captain of the New York Admirals comes in one day…

This is a cute romantic tale of two men and their instant attraction for each other.
Both Scott and Kip are likeable enough, but they just didn’t seem to ring quite true for me. The “I love you’s” came far too quickly and once I love you had been said (and said often) the taking each other for granted and walking away just seemed too easy. Nobody was putting any major effort into keeping this relationship alive and when things got a little tough, they quickly walked away.

There is also a lot of sex in this book. A lot of sex. So much so that at times it felt like word padding.

But overall, this was a well written enjoyable tale, with no major angst and a very sweet, big romantic finish.

Review

First I need to warn you that this is a HFN and that this is a book one. I didn’t know that and had I known I’d have waited for the series – just because that’s how I am.

It doesn’t diminish how much I liked this but it does make me want to warn people.

Melanie Hansen’s stories are FULL of ANGST with a capital A – I knew that going in. However, this was less about the Angst and more about the slow burn and – really – the completely untenable situation.

I don’t know how these two are going to make it last – and I’ve finished book 1. I know they want to but I’m concerned about what it’s going to take to make this happen.

The other thing you should know about this is that it is VERY detailed in it’s description of BUDs training. Very.

If you are not interested in what it takes to become a SEAL – you might want to skip this – as it (easily) takes over most of the story. I found it interesting and it definitely helped shape these guys and their relationship so I can’t say it wasn’t needed for the story.

One thing I really liked was that neither of these guys is perfect. Even by the end. They are still making mistakes, not popular, full of ego and bravado… just what you’d expect from the military. That felt really authentic.

I also really loved their chemistry together because it was so antagonistic and based on competition. It was very HOT. But… they did have their moments of feelz – they were just… less often.

All in all I am bummed I have to wait til NEXT SPRING!@#$% for the next book but I’ll happily read it when it comes out.
