The Law of Attraction by Jay Northcote TOUR – Prizes!

When a professional relationship turns personal, it’s impossible to resist the law of attraction.
Alec Rowland is a high-flying lawyer in a London firm whose career is his life. He doesn’t have time for relationships and his sexuality is a closely guarded secret. After picking up a cute guy on a Friday night, Alec’s world is rocked to its foundations when his one night stand shows up in the office on Monday morning—as the new temp on his team.
Ed Piper is desperate to prove himself in his new job. The last thing he needs is to be distracted by a crush on his boss. It’s hard to ignore the attraction he feels, even though Alec’s a difficult bastard to work for.
Both men strive to maintain a professional relationship, but tempers fray, passions ignite, and soon they’re both falling hard and fast. If they’re ever going to find a way to be together, Alec needs to be honest about who he really is because Ed won’t go back in the closet for anyone.

His companion was still watching him, seemingly waiting for him to make his move. Alec felt irrationally irritated. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go. Even though he only did it occasionally, picking up men was easy for Alec. Buying a drink was more than he usually bothered to do for the twinks he hooked up with when he was in the mood for a warm body to fuck. Alec was well aware of his own attractiveness and used it to his advantage. A crook of a finger, a tilt of his head, or even just a look was usually enough to make them come running.
But this guy didn’t seem to know the rules of the game.
“Strong, silent type, huh?” He suddenly grinned at Alec, all neat white teeth and dimples. “You could start by telling me your name. Mine’s Ed.”
“Alec.” He handed a note to the barman as he came back with their drinks. “Keep the change.”
“Cheers, mate.” The barman winked as he pocketed the tip.
Ed’s eyebrows lifted. “Change from a twenty? You must have money to burn.”
“Something like that.” Alec let his gaze rake deliberately down Ed, examining him from the front this time. His arms were still folded over his chest and his T-shirt had ridden up enough to expose a feathered line of hair on his belly, leading down to a nice-looking package in obscenely tight skinny jeans. “I hope you bottom?”
Ed blinked and choked on his mouthful of rum and Coke. Alec suppressed the urge to grin, enjoying the fact that Ed had momentarily lost his cool.
“I’ve been known to,” Ed replied, rallying. He licked his lips.
“Good.” Alec held his gaze, noting with satisfaction that Ed’s pupils had blown wide and his lips parted as Alec looked at them. God, he had a pretty mouth. Alec lifted his glass and downed his drink. The burn of the whisky tore through him and made his nerves tingle with anticipation. He needed a good fuck; it had been too long. “Drink up, then.”

Catch a Tiger (THIRDS Book 6) by Charlie Cochet

Catch a Tiger by the Tail - Charlie Cochet

Dreamspinner Presents

release day review

Calvin Summers and Ethan Hobbs have been best friends since childhood, but somewhere along the line, their friendship evolved into something more. With the Therian Youth Center bombing, Calvin realizes just how short life can be and no longer keeps his feelings for his best friend a secret. Unfortunately, change is difficult for Ethan; most days he does well to deal with his Selective Mutism and Social Anxiety. Calvin’s confession adds a new struggle for Ethan, one he fears might cost him the friendship that’s been his whole world for as long as he can remember.

As partners and Defense Agents at the THIRDS, being on Destructive Delta is tough at the best of times, but between call-outs and life-threatening situations, Calvin and Ethan not only face traversing the challenges of their job, but also working toward a future as more than friends.

So by now you know the drill. This is book 6 and I’m pretty sure you could figure things out if you read this as a standalone but only barely J

It’s time for us to finally get our story for Calvin and Hobbs. They’ve been best friends forever, partnered up in THIRDS for years and fighting their sexual attraction for just as long. Recently, a bout of jealousy spurred Ethan (Hobbs) into action and we got some hot making out between the two and an uneasy relationship.

In this book we finally – FINALLY – get some resolution and our couple faces their issues and really gets over the hurdles keeping them from being the adorable couple they (and we!) know they can be.

Meanwhile there is also some more drama with the other members of THIRDS: Seb and Hudson especially. Sparks has the team doing a lot of specialized (difficult) training and lives are threatened at a birthday party at Dekatria!

There’s a cliff hanger at the end – I’ll warn ya now! – so be prepared – I’m sure it’ll end up fine… it’s the kind where we know there’ll be trouble but a happy ending – but now we all have to bite our nails til book 7!

I LOVED that we got to see the softer side of Ash and Sloane in this – lots of ooey, gooey and PURRING moments with Dex and Cael and their partners. There’s the requisite action and shooting and some more of the back story gets revealed involving the team and their pasts.

The pool time, learning about Hobbs mutism, and the dancing were all great parts of this story.  So sweet and funny at times – it’s lovely to see the deepening relationship between our guys.

The twists and turns that Ethan and Calvin’s relationship takes are a bit surprising and I guess I was a bit … maybe let down? I was expecting a big, emotional and full of hearts and flowers thing and it sorta happened that way – but it was a bit anti-climactic. Maybe because we’d already seen them hook up or maybe because they’d been friends for so long… in any case… It was sweet and tender and sometimes scorching hot! – but a bit different than I’d expected.

I still loved them – don’t get me wrong – there is a lot of heart-string-tugging moments and tears – nobody will be disappointed by how things unfold.

All the fans will be ecstatic to read this and justifiably upset by the cliff hanger as we await for book 7!

Ignite (Fated Mates #3) by Wolf Specter and Angel Knots

Ben wants a baby, and for five hundred years, he’s been searching for the one man who can give him that: his fated mate.
Dragon shifters have split souls, and when they find their other half, they bond for life. They also have the ability to impregnate the human men they mate with, and even though Ben knows that fate can’t be rushed, watching his two best friends, Maks and Dane, settle down with their own mates has him feeling restless… and impatient to finally find the man he’s waited a lifetime for.
When dragon shifters from Europe attack his friends, Ben jumps at the opportunity to move overseas to help contain the threat. And he can’t help wondering if he’ll finally find what he’s been looking for while he’s there. He does… but it turns out that his mate isn’t at all what he expected.
Zander is a loong, a wingless Chinese dragon and the child of fated mates himself. He’s young for a dragon, and idealistically determined to change the legacy of dragonkind. He’s convinced that it’s his duty to use his dragon’s power to right the wrongs against humanity that his kind have been responsible for.
Zander is passionate about bringing social change to the people he calls his own, and regardless of fate’s intentions, he’s not at all sure he’s ready to be tied down to a mate and child. When his territory and everything he’s worked for is threatened, Zander will be faced with losing everything… and finally deciding what matters most.
Ignite is the the third book in the Dragon’s Destiny: Fated Matesseries. It is a standalone novel with a HEA ending, a satisfying epilogue, and NO CLIFFHANGERS!
Series Spoilers: Although it’s not necessary to read this series in order, Ignite contains “spoilers” for the first two books in the series.
Content Alert: This book is a steamy gay romance of approximately 60,000 words that contains male pregnancy, or Mpreg.

This is the third book in the Fated Mates series and I really think it should be read in order to fully appreciate it.
We met Ben earlier, his two fathers helped our previous MCs through their pregnancies and matings and Ben is their only child. Ben is a super sweet dragon, with no territorial aspirations of his own, only a fierce desire to find his mate.
While waiting for his mate, he helps his friends by “spying” on the evil Nikolai in Europe. There – low and behold! – he finds his mate, Zander!
Zander is the son of two dragons hosting Ben while he monitors Nikolai and he’s very young in dragon terms. He’s got a lot of political and territorial aspirations and has no desire to find his mate and settle down…. Yet.
Zander is kind of a jerk for the first half of the book. He mates Ben then LEAVES – Ugh! Poor Ben is devastated. But the two eventually get back together in the interest of fighting Nikolai and are forced to work on their mating.
I won’t lie – there is some serious sadness in this book and it can be hard to read… BUT in the end there is SO much happiness and joy that it’s worth it.
I just know that Ty and Ivan’s story has to be coming soon – next?!- because the set up here is plain as day.
If you’re a fan of MPREG and Dragon shifters you MUST read this series. It’s so well written and most of the time it’s FREE on Kindle Unlimited! This writing pair is PHENOMENAL and I hope they write many, many books together! (I wish I knew who the mysterious Angel Knots is… so compelling!)

Any Closer Audiobook by Mary Calmes Narrated by Greg Tremblay

Dreamspinner Presents

Part of the First Time For Everything Daily Dose 2011 collection

Charlie Ryder has a colorful past, painful memories, and an embarrassing secret. After three years working for Leo Foster’s construction company, Charlie’s worst fears are realized, and Leo finds out what Charlie has worked so hard to hide. When Leo meets the revelation with absolute love and acceptance, Leo has to trust that Charlie’s love isn’t just gratitude, and Charlie has to learn to trust again, period. It’s going to take a lot of work for these two men to get any closer.

(Previously on this site)

Leo is the foreman of a construction crew with an employee, Charlie. Charlie started out with Leo three years ago, a scared, tentative soul who has slowly blossomed over time and is now one of Leo’s close friends.

One of Leo’s exes blows into town telling stories about Charlie’s past, making Charlie confess not just his past, but his present and hopefully future.

Leo is a clueless, golden-hearted man who seems to have no idea that Charlie’s been crushing on him for awhile now. Charlie sees Leo as safe in a world where he knows only pain and betrayal.

When Leo proves again that he can be trusted, Charlie finally makes his move.

I love these “super sweet, clueless men get the good guy end the end” type stories. Mary is wonderful for giving us these MCs who are almost too good to be true, but since they seem a little bit dense about it, they are utterly charming.

I loved how sweet Charlie was with Leo and how Leo made him feel safe and secure, regardless of his past.

It was a fun book to re-visit and I recommend as a lovely re-read to her fans, and if this is your first time reading this story you are in a for a treat!

Oh what a wonderful combination these two are: Mary and Greg! I love every single one of Greg’s narrations – he is easy to listen to, adds depth and emotion to each narration and does all that he can to give each character a unique voice. I especially loved Leo’s family in this narration – such characters!

Darkness Threatening (Yellowstone Wolves Book 2) by Dirk Greyson

release day review

Dreamspinner Presents

Fredrik is back from college and trying to stay out of his power-hungry brother’s way, until his brother takes a prisoner for his pleasure. Unable to tolerate his family’s cruelty, Fredrik overcomes his fear to help her escape back to her pack. There, he meets Christopher, and their instant attraction tells him Christopher is the one. However, since the threat of his brother remains, Fredrik is reluctant to pursue a relationship.

Christopher is still figuring out his place in the pack and has been living on his own to avoid making waves with his brother, Mikael. Now he’s met his soulmate, and he’ll do anything to take care of his love, including rejoining the pack.

With coaxing, Fredrik accepts his feelings, and Christopher’s pack gives him the home he’s never had. But Fredrick soon realizes he should keep running. His brother is on his tail and will stop at nothing to obtain the power he craves, especially when he realizes the source of the power could be Fredrik himself.

In book one we met the wolves of the Old Faithful pack. They’d defeated the evil Anton and joined together as one pack with Mikhail as their leader along with his new partner, Denton. Chris is Mikhail’s brother and he’s at a loss as to what role he should fulfill in the new pack structure.

Frederik is the brother of Juneau and a relation of Anton. Frederik has seen what the darkness can do and doesn’t want it to consume him. When he sees an opportunity to save a girl from Juneau’s clutches he does so at great cost to himself.

Turns out the girl is the niece of Mikhail and the pack is so grateful they offer him a new home. Though he’s reluctant to endanger them further, he agrees temporarily, especially when he sniffs out his mate – Chris.

Chris and Frederik must fight their attraction until they’ve both decided that mating permanently is what they want and in the meantime the entire pack must band together to protect Frederik and defeat his brother.

This was another great installment in the series. I love the light and dark elements and the magical qualities that get infused into these stories.

There is a bit more depth to this story than some shifter stories and the recurring battle against the darkness gives a nice continuity.

I loved Mikhail and Denton as a couple – they were so antagonistic then hot for each other! Chris and Frederik are a little less volatile so I didn’t feel quite so strongly for them as a couple, but I enjoyed watching them each heal from their respective emotional wounds.

This is a series I’d definitely recommend to all shifter fans and give it 4.5 of 5 stars.

Damian’s Treble (Rescue for Hire Book 3) Audiobook by Bellan Summer Narrated by Darcy Stark

Welcome to the world of Rescue for Hire. Meet the team members who make up a company that forms a family of heroes. Damian White has been observing Treble Walker for months, trying to find a way to catch the dangerous, lethal little man, but Damian wants a forever. Somehow he has to get around Treb’s motto–“Keep it short and simple. I don’t do messy, whiney, emotional stuff.”

Treble Walker is a corner observer who sees everything. He knows the new pilot has been watching him, but when he asks him if he wants to hook up, he gets turned down. Why does that intrigue him? Damian does catch his Treble, but after multiple people go after Treb for revenge, Damian has to keep not only Treble alive but also the hospital staff. There is nothing more dangerous than Treble with a head injury.

Treble is the cold blooded killer in the group of men who rescue people. He’s traded in his weapons for helping, but still teaches gun safety and is available for when there is danger involved in the rescue.

Damian is the pilot who flies the team around. He has been noticing Treb for awhile, but doesn’t want to get involved with him until Treb admits that they have a relationship not just a quick fuck.

Treb fights it, but the slow, persistent wooing eventually does him in and he has to admit he’s fallen for Damian.

Meanwhile, Treb is being stalked by some guys around town who think he’s messing up their lives and he ends up hurt and kidnapped and burgled … luckily he’s Treb so… no worries…right?

This is –hands down- my favorite in the series and my favorite couple in the series. Treb and Damian have (IMHO) the most balanced relationship and it just feels so healthy!

Treb is hysterical and Damian is so good at managing his eccentric ways.

Darcy Stark did another fantastic job of giving Treb a lighter but not fem voice and Damian a rough but not OTT alpha voice. Perfect!

I love, love, love these guys and highly recommend this book/audiobook. Even if you’ve not read the series – give this one a try.

Moonstruck (Lucky Moon Book 3) by MJ O’Shea and Piper Vaughn

Dreamspinner Presents

Surya Patel is the drummer for the massively popular band, Moonlight. When his label suggests a collaboration with Luck, the band Moonlight toured with the year before, he should be all for it. Except he slept with Luck’s manager during the tour and then bolted in the dead of night. He’s regretted leaving ever since, but he knows being around Em will only lead to disaster. Unfortunately for Surya, the person the label sends to sweet-talk him into the collaboration is none other than Emmanuel himself.

Emmanuel Cortez has spent months trying to forget the hottest night of his life—the night he slept with Surya. It’s been a year, but not even the death of his beloved grandmother and the subsequent family drama could keep the memories away. Now his job is to convince Surya to collaborate with Luck, and he has to be professional. But a day spent together leads to another passionate night. This time Surya is the one to wake up alone.

It only takes Em’s departure for Surya to realize he’s had a change of heart. The heat between him and Em burns too brightly to be let go. Surya isn’t satisfied with just one night anymore. He wants forever.

1st Edition published by Loose Id LLC, 2012.

This is book 3 in the series – I didn’t read books one or two and I didn’t feel lost. I’m sure knowing the other characters would add more to the story, but it wasn’t necessary.

Em and Surya had been friends for months before a drunken night of passion crossed the line into lovers. Surya who comes from a strict family “can’t be gay” and runs in fear from that night.

When they meet again several months later, the chemistry is still there – this time Em is the one to leave before things get intense.

Now, the two bands they work with are collaborating and they are in each other’s pockets all the time. They decide to “be friends” and NO benefits and it seems to be working… but not really. Neither can forget the passion and neither really wants to but both have fears to overcome before they can act on it.

These two writers have a magic touch with one another! They always impress me with their prowess even when I’m not that impressed with the story. In this case I loved the story as well as the writing.

Since I haven’t read the first two books, I have no judgment on how this compares with them and on its own merits it’s a great book. I love rocker stories and the chemistry between these guys is off the charts.

There was a bit in the middle that seemed to drag a bit – the “we can’t be lovers” part took a bit longer than I think it needed to – and the ending felt a bit rushed. Other than that it moved along a good pace, showed them really becoming emotionally invested and demonstrated just how good they’d be as a couple. I wish we got to see them in an epilogue or something like that a few months or a year later to see them in a fully functioning “out and proud” relationship, but other than that I really recommend this.

I think fans of the series will love this and even if you haven’t read the series you shouldn’t be afraid to pick this one up.

Moonstruck Book Tour! MJ O’Shea and Piper Vaughn

MoonstruckLGThe World of Fame in the Lucky Moon books

The boys of the Lucky Moon series live in a world that most of us never see … fame. And big fame at that. These guys are rock stars and that kind of life comes with some things we don’t see in our every day lives. At least not in the same way!

When fame and fortune are on the line people can do things they deeply regret. And the people they hurt want to take it out on them in a big way! I’m sure we’ve all entertained thoughts of revenge but how many of us can say that we’ve married out the plot?

Life is different when you have cameras watching your every move. The fame gets to all our main characters in different ways. One of them never felt attractive enough, so he altered nearly everything about his face. Sounds pretty familiar in a world of celebs where pretty much all of them have had a nip and a tuck here and there.

Rehab seems to go with Rocker…sadly. And just like in real life, they did go together for our troubled younger brother Nick. It seems like there are rock stars who bounce in and out but for him, it ended up being the best possible place for him. And it changed his life for the better.

Publicity Stunts

In fame it’s not worth doing something if the world isn’t watching you, right? Our rockstars know the virtue of a good publicity stunt, something to get everyone talking and get their names in the headlines – fake celebrity girlfriend, outrageous quote, crazy party with all the right cameras. Sometimes, though…those can go too far. That’s when people get hurt.

Fake friends

It’s hard to tell who your friends are when you’re on the top, or at least when you can supply the best booze and drugs and fancy cars. Nick for sure learns the hard way that everyone wants you when you’re the life of the party…not so much when you aren’t.

True Love

Even with all the artifices and excess our characters were used to living with, they did manage to find love… and sometimes in the most unlikely of places. Love between siblings, love between true friends, and love of a partner. It’s one of the things that helped them survive.

Piper and I loved creating this world of rockstars and parties, showing both the good side and the darker one. It was great to revisit them in these second editions, add scenes, rewrite parts, get to know characters that we hadn’t spent time with in a couple of years. We’re always around online if you have questions or comments about any of them!

Piper Vaughn wrote her first love story at eleven and never looked back. Since then, she’s known that writing in some form was exactly what she wanted to do. A reader at the core, Piper loves nothing more than getting lost in a great book—fantasy, young adult, romance, she loves them all (and has a two-thousand-book library to prove it!). She grew up in Chicago, in an ethnically diverse neighborhood, and loves to put faces and characters of every ethnicity in her stories, so her fictional worlds are as colorful as the real one. How will shy, virginal, secretly gay Jeremy attract Chris, who seems determined to do the right thing and marry Trix? Jeremy can’t compete with a rich female widow. Or can he?

Jeremy’s mother – Mabe – wants Jeremy and his brother Eric to disrupt the “romance” between Chris and Trix so that Eric can win the hand of Trix and inherit the ranch her late husband left her.

Jeremy is to seduce the “obviously” gay Chris even though Jeremy himself is not exactly “out”.

In the end things end up quite differently than anyone planned and through many twists and turns everyone ends up exactly where they need to be with a delightful HEA.

Eli Easton is a terrific writer. She always makes me laugh (and sometimes cry!) with her moving characters. Jeremy is far more than he seems on the surface and though I really, really didn’t want to like anyone in the Crassen family, I ended up loving them all – perhaps the “loser” Eric the best!

I didn’t ever get quite a good handle on Chris, however. He had some bad experiences in college that made him look upon all gay relationships in a bad light and is now determined to settle in to a sexless if not loveless marriage all before he’s even 30!

Trix turns out to be a dark horse in this story. She ends up showing a lot more depth than I originally thought she was going to have and I really ended up rooting for her part of the story more than even Chris and Jeremy!

There were some parts of this story, however, that just didn’t sit well with me. I wanted to see more of Jeremy and Chris together on page than we did and maybe a bit fewer POV shifts. Though I enjoyed Trix and Eric’s story as well as Billy and Mabe, I really wanted to understand Chris more and follow him with Jeremy after the big “drama”.

Janie didn’t ring true to me as four year old, Mabe felt far older than her forty-two years and Chris also seemed far more jaded than his years would account for. Maybe if everyone had been aged a bit more some of their actions would have felt more authentic and age appropriate.

The other thing that really didn’t set well with me was John and how “replaceable” he felt to both Billy and Trix.

I still cried when Billy was out searching for Janie and that tells me the story was well written even though the shift was to a different set of character.    (I also loved seeing Josh and Ben again!)
