An erotic gay romance, a suspenseful thriller….
A series of murders in New York City has stymied the police and FBI alike, and they suspect the culprit is a single killer sending an indecipherable message. But when the two federal agents assigned to the investigation are taken out, the FBI takes a more personal interest in the case.
Special Agent Ty Grady is pulled out of undercover work after his case blows up in his face. He’s cocky, abrasive, and indisputably the best at what he does. But when he’s paired with Special Agent Zane Garrett, it’s hate at first sight. Garrett is the perfect image of an agent: serious, sober, and focused, which makes their partnership a classic cliché: total opposites, good cop – bad cop, the odd couple. They both know immediately that their partnership will pose more of an obstacle than the lack of evidence left by the murderer.
Practically before their special assignment starts, the murderer strikes again – this time at them. Now on the run, trying to track down a man who has focused on killing his pursuers, Grady and Garrett will have to figure out how to work together before they become two more notches in the murderer’s knife.
This was one of the first books/series I read in this genre and it totally got me hooked! I remember being so glad that I’d found this series after the bulk of them had been written because the emotional cliff hangars at the ends of these are killer!
Our guys go though SO MUCH. There are times when they are apart, fearing for their lives, considering the end… this author (these authors) aren’t afraid of anything.
There are countless reviews for this series – so I’ll just add my own few words.
If you aren’t afraid of angst, like humor and seriously hot smexy times, aren’t afraid to wait A LONG time for the emotional pay out – this is for you. The emotional pay out is there and so satisfying – but not for several books.
Our guys clearly are in it together – but they have to WORK for it and it’s not easy.
The secondary characters and the drama keep the relationship stuff moving along and does – at times – eclipse the romance. However, given the entire series – the relationship is at the center in the end.
Unfortunately, this is one of those series where we get a few different narrators. I think each of them added their own twist to the characters and all of them – in their own way – did a great job. The narration definitely adds to the overall enjoyment and I’d definitely recommend it as a fantastic way to enjoy this series. Especially if you have a LONG time to listen J
