A Shifter U Tale

A smitten coyote isn’t the only one stalking Buffalo Bill.

A buffalo walks into a cafe. Sounds like the start of a bad joke, but for coyote shifter Donnie Granger, it’s the beginning of an obsession. Donnie is a little hyperactive and a lot distractible, except when it comes to William. He finally works up the nerve to approach William but is interrupted by a couple of violent humans.

While William—don’t call me Bill—is currently a professor, he once worked undercover against an international weapons-trafficking ring. Before he can settle into obscurity, he must find out who leaked his location and eliminate the thugs. He tries keeping his distance to protect Donnie, but the wily coyote won’t stay away.

It’ll take both Donnie’s skills as a stalker—er, hunter—and William’s super-spy expertise to neutralize the threat so they can discover if an excitable coyote and a placid-until-pissed buffalo have a future together.

Absolutely loved this book!

I absolutely loved it! This story had me smiling all the way to the end ☺.
I will apologise in advance. My review will not be able to convey the absolute pleasure I had in reading this book, it is whole a lot of fun!
Donnie is adorable, even though he seems to be indecisive about his present life choices and his future. He’s easily distracted and can carry on whole conversations that are hilarious. In comparison, William is more staid, almost dour, but he has his flashes of humour. These are made all the funnier because while he doesn’t have them often, they are spot on. They meet at the café where Donnie works, and from there it’s almost non-stop action with hit-men, super-secret spy stuff (Donnie’s take, not mine). Along the way, Donnie grows a little bit more mature, (he’s still funny) and William loosens up just a tad.
There is nothing I didn’t love about this book – the bad guys were real, the humour and banter between all the characters had me smiling all the way to the end – there is a scene when Donnie finds out what sort of shifter William is, it’s hilarious! (It’s also related to the book title). I loved the epilogue; William will have his hands full with Donnie!
Definitely a re-read for me – great story line, humour, suspense, low angst what’s not to love?
If I had one wish, it’s for there to be an audiobook- I even have the perfect narrator for it (in my mind) *whispers Michael Lesley’s name*.

I agree with Dee whole-heartedly. This was a really fun book with a fair amount of action and lots of humor and some nice smexy times as well! Donnie is a great character as is Buffalo Bill. I hope to see this as a series in the future.

Audio

Dee did not get her wish for narrator, but Finn Sterlin did a really nice job with this. He gives Bill a GREAT voice and Donnie’s voice was distinct and full of humor. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and audio and highly recommend it!
